THIS DIDN'T MAKE THE NEWS-It figures.</font +2>
This is the text of an e-mail that has been going around--My Father sent it to me.
This Didn't Make the News
At Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington, DC recently the Sergeant Major of the Army, Jack Tilley, was with a group of people visiting the wounded soldiers.
He saw a Special Forces soldier who had lost his right hand and suffered severe wounds of his face and side of his body. The SMA wanted to honor him and show him respect without offending, but what can you say or do in such a situation that will encourage and uplift?
How do you shake the right hand of a soldier who has none? He decided to act as though the hand was not missing and gripped the soldier's wrist while speaking words of comfort and encouragement to him.
But there was another man in that group of visitors who had even brought his wife with him to visit the wounded who knew exactly what to do. This man reverently took the soldiers stump of a hand in both of his hands, bowed at the bedside and prayed for him.
When he finished the prayer he stood up, bent over the soldier and kissed him on the forehead and told him that he loved him.
What a powerful expression of love for one of our wounded heroes! What kind of a man would do such a thing?
It was the wounded man's Commander-in-Chief, George W. Bush; President of the United States, with First Lady Laura Bush silently standing by his side.
This story was told by the SMA at a Soldiers Breakfast held at Red Stone Arsenal, AL, and recorded by Chaplain James Henderson, stationed there.
Our news media didn't see this as newsworthy. Pass it on...the press hasn't.

Just when I think the news media has reached their lowest, ... they surprise me again.

maybe unlike the previous president, that would fake everything, this president does not want to be mentioned for this type of compassion.

You're being unfair-- the only reason Clinton couldn't grasp a stump with both hands is because he always had to be carrying a Bible for photo ops.
To: Yosemitest
They may not have covered it because they may not have been there.
He doesn't want to use the wounded troops as a photo op like Clinton would have.
The first few times we heard about it because the press complained, but they have gotten used to the exclusion and don't mention it much any more.

What a great story. No wonder I didn't see it in the media. Thanks for posting.

You are right. President Bush would NOT want this to be publicized.

Don't believe everything you read in an e-mail. As noted by the Office of the Sergeant Major of the Army, it is an
embellishment on the real story. The actual facts are impressive enough, it is a shame that this version continues to make the rounds, tainting the message.

Clinton?!? No! I'm shocked!

You remember the story of the 50th anniversary of the D-Day invasion, dont you? Theres Clinton walking alone down the Normandy beach as the cameras on the cliffs above grind away. He seems to be lost in thought. He stops when he spies a little cluster of rocks on the beach. He kneels down and arranges those rocks into the shape of a cross.
Cameras grind away, crowd goes wild.
Later some reports filter through that it was all staged. White House aides had reportedly placed those rocks on the beach earlier that morning. "OK, Mr. President. Youll like be walking down the beach, you know, and youll like see this pile of rocks, and youll, like, you know, kneel down and like arrange these rocks into a cross, you know. "

The point is .. the President doesn't do it for photo ops .. he does it because that's who he is!
Sooooo .. it's not that the President wouldn't want this to come out .. it's just that he didn't do it to make a splash in the papers. This fact is what drives the liberals crazy. They do everything to get themselves in the media.

Ummm, this is almost identical to the story Dalton Trumbo told about the WWI soldier who inspired his novel, JOhnny Got His Gun.

Someone please tell AnnCoulter.org that this story is not true.

And he'd have been groping some nurse's bum with the other.

Ummm, this is almost identical to the story Dalton Trumbo told about the WWI soldier who inspired his novel, Johnny Got His Gun. If I remember correctly, the soldier in that novel was a deaf, blind quadriplegic who "talked" by tapping out Morse Code on his pillow.
I'm not sure I follow you.

You're being unfair-- the only reason Clinton couldn't grasp a stump with both hands is because he always had to be carrying a Bible for photo ops. LOL! I'd forgotten that 40 lb. Bible Bill carried to church during Monicagate. (I never saw another shot of him going to church, before or after, unless it was a campaign speech.)
