Still, it's best that we be cautious about their collective level of intellect until after they have sealed their fate with some wild-eyed leftist VP candidate at their Boston Convention this year. One never knows; they might get their lucky brainflash at just the wrong time for us...

Don't underestimate Dean. He's not really a crazed leftist. He's a man with Nixonian cunning whose been playing the leftist to catapult from from nobody governor of a small state to presidential front-runner. If he gets the nod, expect him to choose a Southern centrist. I suspect Miller is too old and has burned too many bridges, but Breaux is a likely possibility-- as is Sam Nunn.

Just daayyyyuuummm.

Ol' Zig Zag Zell isn't just burning his bridges, he's wiring those suckers with about a quarter-ton of TNT and pushing the plunger.

I agree with your premise that Zell could give Bush a run for his money due to his conservative slant and being from the South.

There is one more Democrat that though that I believe would give Bush a run for his money and thank God that he isn't running, Harold Ford Jr. from Tennessee.

If you've ever heard him speak, he is polished and presents himself as center as you can get. If the Democrats ever figure that out watch for him to spring to the forefront. They almost got him to the forefront when he gave Pelosi a run for her money for minority leader in the House.

I agree with what you are saying. I, too, like a lot of what Zell has said on TV, etc. But did he not earn the nickname of 'Zig Zag Zell'? The dims potential for distruction and lies MUST NEVER BE FORGOTTON!

I doubt if the VP will come from the current crop of candidates. Historically, it rarely happens. The winner is reluctant to choose one of his challengers (and they usually won't accept) for reasons of ego and appearance. Imagine the GOP using clips of a Dem VP candidate criticizing the Dem nominee.

Breaux would be formidable in the South, but I don't know how he would play in the rest of the country. I watched his announcement of his retirement from the Senate. When asked if he would run for President, he said that he couldn't gain the Dem nomination because of his relative conservative views. Besides, Bush will sweep the South with the only real battle being in Florida.

The Dem VP nominee will probably be someone with a strong background in national security.

Just spent several days with my commie sister.

At least it makes the vacation seem longer than it really is.

Give 'em Zell. That Sen. Miller wrote this while still in office is amazing, what will he come up with after he leaves Washington? I'm going out to buy his book.

Another point about the "Demolition derby", I think the Clintonista cabal is very upset with Dean as the spoiler. They had a system in place, and their puppet Clark, they assumed control was theirs. Dean appears to be out of their control.

I wouldn't sell Howard Dean any life insurance. ;-)

I would too. I think I am going to write to the "Wall Street Journal" folks. They have a for-fee newsletter that I subscribe to, and I think Zell would be an excellent writer for it.

Thank you for the ping. Zell Miller has a penchant for "telling it like it is." Unlike Howard Dean, Senator Miller tells the *truth*. His observations are music to my ears.

I genuinely feel sorry for him that his party has deteriorated so badly. Part of me understands why he sticks with his party-I read that he was "born a Democrat, [is] married to a Democrat...[etc]" but in lieu of what has happened to the Democratic party thanks to the likes of Kennedy, Pelosi, Daschle, et al, I wish he would "defect." I think it would send the rats a *really* loud message.

I'm sticking to my original prediction of Hilldabeast riding on a white horse and saving the party as the front runner with Clark as VP for 04.

Logic, even if she loses, and she will, she is now set up for 08. And, now she is out of that nasty race in 06.

Ping to Linda.

I just love all this straterigizing!

But I don't understand why you think Hillary would ride in on a white horse to save the party in 2004. She wants em to lose this time so she will have a shoo in nomination in 2008.

If Bill hadn't lied to the people of Arkansas about running for president, Hillary might risk breaking her word to New York voters, but she can't risk following that example. And she doesn't want to give up her senate seat, not until her White House win is more of a sure thing. I think Hillary will run in 2008, with Wesley Clark as her VP running mate...I think it's a done deal.
