Regan and Bush II
But YES!!! Condi for President.
Then we can call all the liberals racist, sexist extremists.
It would be great to watch them try and trash her.

He ushered in a long, long Republican rule-time. Yeah, political whoring is not new to the republicrats. They have had over 100 years of practice.

It depends on what your definition of "truth" is when under oath; truth as it pertains to the presidency, or truth as it pertains to personal standards.
Wadayamean there's no diference?

Call it what you will. That's my belief and I'm sticking to it. Careful, your hatred is showing. This is a family forum.

I still remember rolling with laughter when Reagan brought all those extra complex bills to the State of the Union speech and stacked them on the desk one-by-one as he explained them. They were piled so high they almost fell over on him.
Which year was this SOTU address? I would love to read, or even better, listen or watch it.

Actually, I kinda liked "what".
I was going to pick my easy chair.

George Washington

George W. Bush
(no particular order) All great leaders with vision and selfless dedication.
If you were to read "Theodore Rex" I think you would include Teddy Roosevelt in that list as I do. Among his many accomplishments, which are miread, he is the only American President to be awarded both the Nobel Peace Prize (mediating the end of the Russo-Japanese War) and the Medal of Honor (for bravery in the face of enemy fire while commanding the assault of Kettle and San Juan Hills).

It was 1988. I had to do some research to find it. I actually thought it was earlier in his first term. Shows how good my memory is.
Here's a link to the text of it:
http://www.polsci.ucsb.edu/projects/presproject/idgrant/sou_pages/reagan7su.html
The picture on this link shows him holding one of the stacks. Notice Jim "Fort Worthless" Wright grinning up a storm in the background.
And here's the excerpt of what I laughed about back then. I suppose I shouldn't have embellished it quite so much when I said it almost fell over "on him". The stack almost fell over, but he wasn't in any danger. It was stacked up on the table about 2 feet tall. When he threw the last one on top of the pile, he had to scramble a little to keep the stack from tumbling. Again, great theater:

"Now, it is also time for some plain talk about the most immediate obstacle to controlling federal deficits. The simple but frustrating problem of making expenses match revenues -- something American families do and the federal government can't -- has caused crisis after crisis in this city. Mr. Speaker, Mr. President, I will say to you tonight what I have said before -- and will continue to say: The budget process has broken down; it needs a drastic overhaul. With each ensuing year, the spectacle before the American people is the same as it was this Christmas -- budget deadlines delayed or missed completely, monstrous continuing resolutions that pack hundreds of billions of dollars worth of spending into one bill -- and a federal government on the brink of default.
"I know I'm echoing what you here in the Congress have said because you suffered so directly -- but let's recall that in seven years, of 91 appropriations bills scheduled to arrive on my desk by a certain date, only 10 made it on time. Last year, of the 13 appropriations bills due by October 1st, none of them made it. Instead, we had four continuing resolutions lasting 41 days, then 36 days, and two days, and three days, respectively. And then, along came these behemoths. This is the conference report -- 1,053 page report weighing 14 pounds. Then this -- a reconciliation bill six months late, that was 1,186 pages long, weighing 15 pounds; and the long-term continuing resolution this one was two months late and it's 1,057 pages long, weighing 14 pounds. That was a total of 43 pounds of paper and ink. You had three hours -- yes, three hours -- to consider each, and it took 300 people at my Office of Management and Budget just to read the bill so the government wouldn't shut down.
Congress shouldn't send another one of these. No -- and if you do, I will not sign it."

Please before you spout your mouth off; go to the building labeled a library and read some books for about twenty years. Put the radio down, shut off the voice that does your thinking. And learn to think for yourself. Cleveland was so hated that he got voted in again to clean up the mess created by Benjamin Harrison (a true spendocrat). And it was Republicans that put the Democrat Cleveland into the presidency in the first place. They were called Mugwumps. I think the closest politico related to Bill Clinton was the great Republican twit named Warren Harding. What is it with Presidents from State of Ohio; if they don't die in office they're Fat, Dumb, and Stupid.

Oh yes, with men like these, our country is safe and sound. I thank God daily for their leadership and the knowledge that God certainly shed his Grace on our Republic.

Touchy aren't we? I can't believe you're so fired up because I desparaged a President from 110 years ago!!! What I said about Cleveland is just as much a matter of history as what you said. Bill Clintoon was elected twice and probably would have gone on to a third term (gag) just like Cleveland, had it not been for our Constitution (hooray). My point was, there were scandals involving Cleveland and scandals involving Clintoon. The Republican Platform circa 1894 could have been used almost verbatim in 1994 and the results of the election in 1994 were the same as in 1894. Republicans took over both houses of Congress. Republicans then went on to win something like 9 of the next 11 Presidential elections. That's history. What these people actually stood for, what the actually did while in office, I'd have to take your word for. At this stage, I don't care. Political history is rewritten so much, I don't know what to believe about past officeholders, especially from over 100 years ago. But my description of what happened electorally (sp?) still stands. AND I STILL HOPE HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF in having a Republican House, Senate AND Presidency for the next 9 or 10 election cycles (at least). That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
I still can't believe you're so ready to fight about a 110 year old election. I hope you translate that fiestyness into dislike for what the liberals are doing today. Otherwise it's a terrible waste of energy.
Happy New Year!!!

There was no scandal with Cleveland. During his run for election, the Republicans got wind of an illegitimate child fathered by Cleveland "ala Democrats and a DUI". Cleveland admitted to it and it died. At the time, Cleveland was a bachelor. How that is different from Clinton is the fact he didn't lie, he wasnt married at the time and there was a child involved (that was supported by Cleveland)?
BTW, Cleveland vetoed 414 bills in his first term, more than double the 204 vetoes cast by all previous presidents. Cleveland used his veto powers 584 times during his two terms. That is the way to stop rampant government spending and slowing down the regulatory monster.
Why did I jumped down your neck, is the same reason I jumped down anyone's neck that goes shooting off their mouth without thinking. Granted it is usually done by liberals. But I have noticed lately so-called conservatives doing it as well.
I had nothing to say about your analogy between 1894 and 1994. But if I was you, I wouldn't be celebrating until you see what the Republican Party has morphed into. I think you had an Ohio flag flying in you profile; do you really think Gov. Bob Taft is a conservative? That guy is as large a liberal demagogue as Teddy Kennedy.

Reagan. Nuff said.

There was no scandal... illegitimate child...he didn't lie... vetoed 414 bills...used his veto powers 584...
Let it go already. It happened 110 years ago. SO WHAT?? With all the problems we have today, you're living over 100 years ago. Are you a time traveler of something? Give it up!! What's your point anyway. Is the veto rant a Bush-Bash? You third partiers are a hoot.

WITHOUT THINKING!!! You didn't dispute my HISTORY. You didn't dispute my reference to the Republican Platform....
I had nothing to say about your analogy between 1894 and 1994
...and of course you can't dispute my comparison between elections of 1894 and 1994 and beyond...THAT'S HISTORY. If the democRATS of that day were SO GOOD, why did they only win 2 of the next 11 elections? Blame it on the last DemocRAT who held the post at that time...CEVETOON!!!!
Go jump down some liberals neck. I just chewed you up and spit you out. TAKE A SHOWER.
By the way...one thing we CAN agree on is Bob Taft. Who's your Governor? I didn't bother to check your profile.
