"Medical staff talked of a prescription medicine, but because there are dangers, it was not prescribed.
"
I don't believe this at all... there's OTC preparations to take care of lice. It doesn't have to be prescribed.

Lice have developed resistance to medication. The only way to get rid of them is to comb thouroughly two or three times a day with one of those fine-tooth, two sided ACE brand combs for several days, wash all linen in hot water, and take your kids out of public school.

OTC treatments for head lice probably would not have left the dreadlocks intact.

I love how what mattered most to this kid's idiot mother is his hairdo, not whether he's nastiness-free or without the risk of severe burns. She deserves to be charged with child endangerment, or something similar.

If they were on medicaid it would make sense, since being on medcaid means that a patient gets all of their meds for "free"; I've seen welfare moms call their doc for an RX of (free) Tylenol in order to prevent having to part with the $6.00 themselves.

Not saying that's the case, but with the mention of a multitude of children, the single mother, the degrees in Blahblahbull$hit Studies....well, it just sorta popped into my head.

No kidding. What a shame this kid has such a stupid mother. What a shame she didn't exert some parental control and make him cut his hair and use the OTC treatment on what was left.

This reminds me of the classmate's mother who was trying to get rid of a bees' nest. She made a preparation of bleach and boiling water. As Murphy would have it, she tripped while taking it outside and the concoction spilled on her, burning her terribly.

I'll admit to being a bit of a homebrew fan myself, but dayum, sometimes you have to submit to the evil corporations and just buy the can of Raid.
