NARAL: Abortionist's 34-Year Assault Sentence 'Cruel'

The National Abortion Rights Action League (NARAL) today called on a Phoenix, Arizona, judge to suspend the sentence of an abortion doctor who sexually assaulted his patients.

A jury today sentenced Dr. Brian Finkel to 34-3/4 years in prison after convicting him last month of 22 counts of sexual assault on his abortion clinic customers.

"This is cruel and unusual punishment," said NARAL President Kate Michelman. "Rather than confine this man behind bars with a bunch of brutal murderers where he cannot use his prodigious gifts and talents, Dr. Finkel should be returned to his practice to continue his service to the community."

In two decades of service, Dr. Finkel performed some 30,000 abortions. His crimes consisted of kissing and fondling his abortion patients against their will.

"We cannot condone the disgusting things Dr. Finkel did to women who trusted him," said Ms. Michelman, "However, we must consider the greater good of the community. If he is returned to his professional work, then ultimately it will reduce the number of women who might be victims of sexual assault by reducing the actual births of boys and girls who grow up to be sexual assailants and victims."

NARAL-funded studies show that unwanted fetuses, whose mothers fail to choose abortion, are more likely to become involved in sexual crimes as adults.

"If Dr. Finkel is able to prevent just one sexual assault by aborting the potential assailant or the victim," she said. "It will, in a sense, atone for his crimes against women."

Thank God he can't "use his prodigious gifts and talents." He's behind bars where he can't misuse them anymore.

Personally, I don't think the sentence was harsh enough for the crimes. He not only committed them, he misused his trust as a doctor. He should lose his license to practice medicine.

Every profession, every occupation, has a small group of sociopaths which must be rooted out, be it lawyers, police, businessmen, etc.
In the case of medicine, the dregs of the profession are without question the abortionists. Studies have shown that many abotionists are sexual predators. Most victims of abortionist sexual abuse don't report this due to intimidation and the power of Planned Parenthood. Phoenix police said one of the chief obstacles to their investigation of Finkel was that 90 percent of the women who have now come forward since news of his arrest never filed a police report, according to the Arizona Republic. Research by the Life Dynamics Institute on sexual abuse by abortionists finds this problem very widespread.

More than 160 women accused one abortionist of sexual assault. Allegations by patients included rape, sexual abuse of minors, attempted sexual stimulation and sexually abusive language. California Deputy Attorney General Randy Christison described the doctor as a predator in a white coat who used his position for his own perverse gratification.

More than 100 female patients came forward with complaints against another abortionist after he was investigated by the Oregon Board of Medical Examiners and the police. The abortion doctor was accused of trying to sexually stimulate patients, using explicit sexual language and photographing genitals during examinations.

A Los Angeles abortionist, accused of misconduct by more than 100 of his clients, allegedly raped several of them on the examination table. The doctor, who eventually had his license revoked, aborted the child of one of his rape victims after normal hours without using standard equipment and personnel.
