I need help from some of you computer-internet wizards out there. I recently downloaded all of the updates on microsoft.com for my windows 98 operating systems on BOTH of my computers, and now when I am on the internet, my scroll bar does not scroll down to where I left off reading. It skips a whole page and stops there. This is VERY distracting and I cannot get used to putting the pointer only a little way down, surfing is no fun anymore.
Is there a way to reset the scroll bar so that it will stop in the correct place?

One: I think I recall Microsoft no longer supports '98.
Two: I have the same problem in Microsoft Internet Exploder and I'm on XP.

I know this does not answer your question, but I would recommend Mozilla 1.5, available free at mozilla.org. With it, you will avoid this and many other Microsoft headaches.

Go to Contol Panel,Add/Remove Programs and remove Internet Explorer Q824145.Worked for me.Although I've found it seems to return with every update,I just keep canning it.

You need to disable smooth scrolling. This is just a suggestion.
Go into tools, internet options, advanced, and you should see smooth scrolling in the browse section. Uncheck it. You should then reboot.
Hope this helps.

I also suggest you switch to Mozilla. Its tabbed browsing, popup killer, and sidebar make surfing a dream. I've never looked back since I switched more than a year ago.

What version of IE are you using? If you aren't running IE 6, install it.

That's a cumulative vulnerability patch. You really should keep it on. If you install it according to the instructions you should be okay.
Reinsall IE6SP1 instead.

First Lazamataz, there has been a recently relesed fix for your problem at the Microsoft update page. Has something to do with IE 6x and XP I heard.
livesbygrace, check your mouse settings first in the control panel and see if your settings for scroll are set for "one whole page" or 1-3 lines at a time.
After you set those where you want, reboot. Now, check your internet browser's preferances for mouse scroll settings. I know where they are for Mozilla but not for internet explorer. You can also check
http://www.annoyances.org/ it has really good forum solutions for all window blinds. :o)
