I like Michael's show, but think that he is a prig. I loved Kill Bill, and plan on seeing In America. For me, the best film of the year was American Splendor. Nothing blew up, no huge stars, no contrived plot, just a pure original intelligent film.

Really want to see Lost In Translation

The only movies I've seen this year are Hulk, LOTR3, and Finding Nemo. Loved LOTR and Nemo (Ellen Degeneres was great, and didn't make passes at any of the female fish). The Hulk could have been a terrific movie, but the storytelling wasn't nearly tight enough.

BTW, Medved and his brother did a series of books years ago, called the 50 Worst Films of All Time, The Golden Turkey Awards, and the Son of Golden Turkey Awards. If you ever find any of these books, they're hysterically funny, but they've been out of print for years.

"School of Rock"?? please tell me he's joking. Jack Black was painful to watch, unless you like watching someone who projects absolutely no charisma, no true emotion of any kind, no sense of commucating or rapport with anyone (except for maybe a five minute scene where he finally settles down), etc. I can't beleive anyone could enjoy that horrible excuse for acting he does in this movie.

I enjoyed "The Hulk" simply for it's adhering to the real story of the comic book. I think too many people judged it based on the TV series with Bill Bixby.

But I'm pretty much happy with most comic book movies based on the old comics of the 1960's and 70's.

I dispise the video-sewage that comprises most of what comes out of Sleazy-Wood for the last many many years, but I ventured out to see Cold Mountain today. I sat stunned to the very end of the credits ... it was just that good.

I didn't think they had any of that degree of human sensibility remaining in that town. IMO they only briefly wandered over toward the gratuitous sex-button for less than 60 sec in the whole film.

It is a heart-felt, soulful film.

I liked "The Hulk." It was an art house psychological movie, so I understand why others don't enjoy it, but I think it was cool.

IMO Hulk was boring. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone--a waste of time. Spiderman was fabulous in comparison.

Mystic River is just one of those movies where you think you know who "did it" 15 minutes into it but at the last minute it just kinda shocks you. I left the movie all kinds of stunned.

I saw School of Rock twice (in my defense, once at the dollar theater) and it was just one of those cute movies that you can take the whole family to. My friends and I found it quite quotable. :D

I saw Lost in Translation without knowing anything about it until the lights dimmed and the show started (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was sold out). I thought it was very interesting because it was working off the premise that two people can just remain platonic friends (well its an interesting premise for Hollywood where everyone hooks up all the time). But... in my opinion? That movie could have been like 25 minutes long and worked as a short film. It was way too long.

I saw "Pirates" and while I liked it in theaters, I'm slowly becoming sick of it. Mainly because everyone I know got the DVD for Christmas and that is all everyone wants to watch. To me its like Titanic. You can really only watch it once.

I'm going to see if the local video store has Spellbound, it lost to Moore's Bowling For Columbine for Best Documentary.

Actually, during the scene where the Hulk is destroying the tanks, if you listen closely, you can hear him proclaim "Hulk smash!!", although it's muddled in sound effects.

I saw a preview last night for another Bennifer movie, "Jersey Girl" and at first I was prepared to be unimpressed, but during the trailer it becomes apparent that J.Ho dies like 20 minutes into it. And despite the fact that Affleck is the main character in it, it does actually look kinda good.

Random: Does anyone else get annoyed when they introduce him or Matt Damon as "Oscar Award Winning Actor suchandsuch" especially because their Oscar is not for acting? I find it misleading to people who actually think Ben can act.

Ahh, I could do without both of them. Just another bunch of punks who got into the biz through nepotism. Freggin` AfflacK been in movies since he was a kid, his moms a casting director or something. I always love when these idiots go on that show with Lipton in front of aspiring actors who always ask "How can I break into the biz?" and they`re handed this big BS spiel when the truth of the matter is just about 100% of the top paid actors today are there because of family connections. You`ll think one made it alone, but just about 100% of the time if you look it up you`ll find out he or she had an Uncle or a brother or a Father who`s a director or a casting agent, it`s just hidden away. What a life...Right out of high school into a job that pays you millions, then they got the gall to preach to the masses.

"Really want to see Lost In Translation"

Lost in Translation is wonderful. It is thoughtful, reflective, wistful. It is both intense and lanquid. Listen for Bill Murray's statement about being a parent. (This is not a comedy).

Scarlett Johanssen is very young to have pulled off such a part. I will want to see her in Girl with a Pear Earring, just out.

hmm, no mention of Matrix Revolution in either list.

And no X-Men 2? I thought it was a very good adventure film.

Was Mel Gibson's The Passion of Christ considered?

That will be a 2004 movie. Will be released on Feb. 25th.

At least Tori Spelling doesn't try to hide that fact. :P

I remember watching Affleck in 5th grade as the dorky kid in the weird miniseries Voyage of the Mimi orsomething.
