Freepers drive to Crawford to have a hamburger with President Bush

Freepers gather in Crawford to try to see President Bush. From San Marcos the Bat Lady and her dad (from El Paso) drive to Austin and pick up Gracey. TheSarce drives down from Dallas where she has been staying and on her way back stops off in Crawford to have a hamberger. Intel from past years has it that the President has come into town to have a hamberger on the 31st of the year.

The past 2 years TheSarce has been in Crawford and the next day seen the President at the Coffee Station. We planned last year to go around the 30th or 31st of this year.
We know that the Coffee Station is closed on Mondays and took a chance that the President would come into town on the 31st since that was the best day for our group.
He didn't come in on the 30th and we felt that it was looking good for our chances. The Coffee Station wasn't open when we got there and you had to sign up on a list to be seated next door at the gas station... another good sign.
We were called for the 1st seating just as TheSarce arrived and ordered slowly and ate slowly. Seems everyone there had the same idea. All Tables were taken except for one long table at the window. Another good sign.
The crowd was friendly and all hoping to see the President. I had brought about 10 BUSH WINS signs from the election. Everyone was enthusiastic about that.

I remember the time Resident Clinton visited the pub in London, and sat down for a glass of beer. After he left, the Secret Service retrieved the dirty glass from his table. It must be a relief for the agents to not have to always hide their boss's DNA evidence anymore.

There were several soldiers with families we thanked them for thier service to our country. And many patriotic republicans. We meet Carol, Brenda, Vivian and Les and his wife and children.
There were also 3 young ladies who had brought signs thanking Bush. Bush is our hero.
Then they started seating people at the big table.... a bad sign. We finished eating and left since there were many people waiting to eat. We waited in the parking lot for another hour or so but it didn't seem like the President was going to come to town. How sad.
However, TheSarce kept us entertained with pictures of the Govenors mansion 2000. We chatted with everyone, met the new owner of the Coffee Station and headed to the HS to talk to the media.

So we found the media and talked to a Fox News camera guy sitting alone in one of the tents set up by the field that ya'll have seen on the news. He talked to us for a while.
We then gassed up at the local Fina (where we ate hambergers last year when the Coffee Station was closed) and shopped at the gift shops. Then headed home.
A good time was had by all, even tho we didn't get to see the President. Rumor has it that he will go hunting tomorrow. Hope he has a good time.

LOL... well, it wasn't a total bust then...
I almost had breakfast with Ronald Reagan years back. Rumour had it that he was coming to my hometown for his presidential campaign and was going to have breakfast at a little place just out side of town. I showed up right when the place opened, and ordered breakfast. Took my time with it, and sat their for hours, when suddenly around 10, these guys with dark suits and sunglasses came in, and then...
