Air France site has now removed "flight has been delayed for security precautions" from the flight data. I'm wondering if that refers to the plane's departure time, and subsequently the arrival time.
FlightView says that the plane was scheduled to depart at 1:35 PM (presumably local time), but actually departed at 3:29 PM.
It is estimated to arrive at LAX at 5:47 PM (local?), but was scheduled to arrive at 4:05 PM.
Perhaps they had some sort of delay back in Paris, attributable to security, but cleared the plane for departure after all? Then, while the plane was enroute, they discovered some new information?

I have a fuzzy recollection that that is NOT the case.
It seems to me there was some doc after 9/11 that
that particular decision
had been pushed down the chain of command significantly to insure timeliness in a repeat situation.
I could be wrong.

I remember reading that a long time ago. Hilarious. It would be great if someone could find the link again.

Agreed. I suspect this is a non-story, except that flights from France or Mexico, or some suspect place will be shadowed by our AF. That is a story.

Paris, France is way far north, and they are taking the great circle route which should take the flight even farther north.

Yes. You lure them onto the mooseapult with cheese, but only if you're logged on.

OK....
Everyone's just going to have to SLOW DOWN here.
I'm having to refresh every 5 seconds and I don't have time to post.
I'm trying to keep up....
Is this the NORMAL flight path that we are witnessing?
Have flight paths been altered since we are at orange?
How can an Air Force pilot "volunteer" for this kind of exercise? That's very "un"-Air Force...
