DON'T SHOP DAY!!! (In protest of the upcoming Bush Amnesty)
Grassroots Effort ^ | American Patrol

Posted on 12/30/2003 10:55:22 AM PST by libertylass

"DON¹T SHOP DAY" IS CATCHING ON!! COMING TO TV!!

A major TV media outlet will do a story on the January 12th -- "Don¹t Shop Day." They have asked for an interview tomorrow!!! SEE http://tinyurl.com/3h5gn

WE NEED TALK RADIO TO DISCUSS THIS ACTION! We need you to call those talk shows!

Remember these talking points:

WHY?

A. Bush political advisors tell him voters have NO PLACE TO GO to protest his amnesty plans since all the Democrat candidates support amnesty. (See: http://www.washtimes.com/national/20030906-120054-6125r.htm)

HOW?

B. Since they think we have NO PLACE TO GO, we should let them know what they are up to by GOING NO PLACE on January 12, 2004, the first day of Bush¹s visit with Mexican President Fox in Mexico City. In other words, don¹t shop, don't go to movies, etc. Stay at home!

NO ONE IS HURT--

C. This is not a boycott. There will be no real economic damage to anyone, just a demonstration of our ability to protest. It's a win-win situation!

THERE IS NO SPONSOR--

D. While American Patrol is supporting this effort, there is no official sponsor. It is a true grassroots effort.

WHAT AMERICANS ARE SAYING:

Here is just some of the email feedback:

+++++++++++++++++++++ Everyone is really getting the word out. I think it's going to have a big impact. -- Along the same lines I think we should add: Make No Bank Deposits that day. Do not pay any bills (from the 9th-12th), and no online shopping either. -- Sincerely, Shanna in Arizona +++++++++++++++++++++++++ I did a search for historical events for the days between now and Jan.12th when President Bush will meet with President Fox, and the day when hundreds of thousands of Americans will not do ANY shopping. Tomorrow is the anniversary of the Pledge of Allegiance.

Tuesday is the anniversary of the U.S.- Mexico border. Wednesday is the anniversary of the opening of Ellis Island. We will add another day: January 12, 2004 - the American people protested illegal immigration with their pocketbook. Barbara V. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++ The no shop day on 1/12/04 could stop Bush dead in his amnesty tracks if it catches on, and I very much think it will. My friends and family are spreading the word fast. The media is always writing about the great economic clout of the Latino lobby to make driver's licenses and Latino benefits happen. This could be a demonstration of REAL economic power that could upstage Bush/Fox in Monterrey Mexico on 1/12/04. This Bush-amnesty counter-measure is a brilliant idea. Suddenly we don't have to be observers watching our citizenship, sovereignty, and laws being thrown away. L.B., Riverside, CA ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

"If your argument is legality -- then it seems amnesty solves it by satisfying the legal requirement."

With that line of reasoning we should just open the prisons and solve a lot of the prison overcrowding problem by legalizing whatever crime they've commited.

Local law enforcement agencies routinely pick up and release illegals. A start would be turning them over to the feds for deportation as opposed to releasing them.

I still don't see anything on this thread except people terrified of mexicans. No alternative and no recognition that a problem exists on the other side -- employers trying to get employees. Have any of you gone to a chicken plant in Georgia to get a job and been turned down because an illegal mexican wanted it?

Do whatever is in the law to find and deprot illegals, and secure the border. Both against them and any possible terrorist threat.

"If your argument is legality -- then it seems amnesty solves it by satisfying the legal requirement. Anything else? "

Giving amnesty (no matter how Bush packages it)gives Mexicans access to what their plan really is.. to reclaim Azlan- A Zogby International poll of May 2002 revealed the wide disparity between Mexican and American attitudes toward their common border. A majority of Mexicans polled (58%) agreed with the statement that “The territory of the United States’ Southwest rightfully belongs to Mexico,” while only 28% disagreed and 14% were unsure.. they believe that the SW should be taken back and become a part of Mexico.

Bush is contrevening the will and the security of the US in favor of the interests of a foreign power.

Jobs are being lost and wages will and are now being depressed resulting in a decline in the nation's standard of living.

The law re "family reunification" .. if we have (conservatively) 10 million that are amnestied, add another 20 million ( at the very least) to that number.

Hey Diddle: What real solutions do you have short of amnesty? Drivers licenses? Displacing more American jobs to make room for more illegals? And we're not just talking about Mexicans. We're talking about all illegals.

Okay if you believe "But some of the Tancredo-ites are extremely counter productive".. then you give an alternative.. There is none. Bush etc will not listen to the will of the people.. he's in bed with Vicente Fox.

I have not hear of any proposal on the news. So far, it is all speculation in articles on FR.

Let's wait until he actually proposes the plan please.

YEAH! That's it! Lets just ignore the immigration laws we're not enforcing alltogether!

Your analogy is wrong. Congress has the power to draft law and the President sign it. If they pass a law that says people illegally in the country have X days to apply for special status then its legal for them to do so.

Actually we do let prisoners go -- its called a pardon.

WHAT about the complete takeover of cities by illegals, do we just give up whole cities and hope that it stops.

Are you not aware of the flood of middle east arabs, chinese and former soviet republic illegals using mexico as a gateway?

Apparently not.

"I have constantly said that we need to have a immigration policy that helps match any willing employer with any willing employee. It makes sense that that policy go forward."

And that equals legitimizing criminals, rewarding lawbreaking and encouraging others to do likewise. I mean, h*ll, why go the legal route when you can jump the border overnight, get all kinds of freebees (well free to you...the dumba*ss American taxpayers will foot the bills), get all kinds of political clout, AND get a pay under the table job to pour money back into the MEXICAN economy?.

You're assuming that the illegals who cross the border have any more in mind than getting a job. There is no greater conspiracy at work here.

Anyway, the loudmouths in MeCHA and other racist Mexican organizations have no real influence or power. There IS a new rising Mexican-American elite in this country, who is doing what the Irish, Jews, Italians and Blacks have already done in the past- leveraging their ethnic ties into political power and a seat at the table. The fools in MeCHA are about as relevant as any other organization comprised of college students.

I'd normally agree with you.

GWB, however, used similar calculus to sign the Campaign Reform Act, thinking the SCOTUS would never let it pass the way it was written.

He ran his campaign saying he wasn't for it, and wouldn't sign it.

Oh well, it only banned political speech 60 days before national elections, and allowed the SCOTUS to amend the Constitution without a 3/4's vote of the states, so nothing really bad happened.

I'm wondering when they are going to reprint the little blue constitution books to reflect the change in the 1st amendment. Maybe they'll just put an asterisk and a little footnote.
