DON'T SHOP DAY!!! (In protest of the upcoming Bush Amnesty)
Grassroots Effort ^ | American Patrol

Posted on 12/30/2003 10:55:22 AM PST by libertylass

"DON¹T SHOP DAY" IS CATCHING ON!! COMING TO TV!!

A major TV media outlet will do a story on the January 12th -- "Don¹t Shop Day." They have asked for an interview tomorrow!!! SEE http://tinyurl.com/3h5gn

WE NEED TALK RADIO TO DISCUSS THIS ACTION! We need you to call those talk shows!

Remember these talking points:

WHY?

A. Bush political advisors tell him voters have NO PLACE TO GO to protest his amnesty plans since all the Democrat candidates support amnesty. (See: http://www.washtimes.com/national/20030906-120054-6125r.htm)

HOW?

B. Since they think we have NO PLACE TO GO, we should let them know what they are up to by GOING NO PLACE on January 12, 2004, the first day of Bush¹s visit with Mexican President Fox in Mexico City. In other words, don¹t shop, don't go to movies, etc. Stay at home!

NO ONE IS HURT--

C. This is not a boycott. There will be no real economic damage to anyone, just a demonstration of our ability to protest. It's a win-win situation!

THERE IS NO SPONSOR--

D. While American Patrol is supporting this effort, there is no official sponsor. It is a true grassroots effort.

WHAT AMERICANS ARE SAYING:

Here is just some of the email feedback:

+++++++++++++++++++++ Everyone is really getting the word out. I think it's going to have a big impact. -- Along the same lines I think we should add: Make No Bank Deposits that day. Do not pay any bills (from the 9th-12th), and no online shopping either. -- Sincerely, Shanna in Arizona +++++++++++++++++++++++++ I did a search for historical events for the days between now and Jan.12th when President Bush will meet with President Fox, and the day when hundreds of thousands of Americans will not do ANY shopping. Tomorrow is the anniversary of the Pledge of Allegiance.

Tuesday is the anniversary of the U.S.- Mexico border. Wednesday is the anniversary of the opening of Ellis Island. We will add another day: January 12, 2004 - the American people protested illegal immigration with their pocketbook. Barbara V. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++ The no shop day on 1/12/04 could stop Bush dead in his amnesty tracks if it catches on, and I very much think it will. My friends and family are spreading the word fast. The media is always writing about the great economic clout of the Latino lobby to make driver's licenses and Latino benefits happen. This could be a demonstration of REAL economic power that could upstage Bush/Fox in Monterrey Mexico on 1/12/04. This Bush-amnesty counter-measure is a brilliant idea. Suddenly we don't have to be observers watching our citizenship, sovereignty, and laws being thrown away. L.B., Riverside, CA ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I don't think your problem in California is the same as elsewhere. Applying the idea that every illegal is a member of Azlan or Mecha and is in a gang waiting to rape your wife is what is bothering me. Here there are serious problems in finding employees for certain positions and I see no reason to deny people willing to work those positions. The legal immigration process will not account for those jobs because its too limited and too slow.

I tried to encourage my older girls (and my son)to learn Spanish. I sold Avon, and it got to the point where I no longer could communicate with half my neighborhood. All you have to do is look at the help wanted ads. For those of us who work retail, or customer service, most jobs now require you to speak Spanish. Of course I live in CA.

"2) What is the alternative solution." Enforce the damn laws on the books and deport illegals.

Yea, and when we enforce the border laws, don't just bus 'em down to Tijuana - drop 'em off in Cozumel or Merida - someplace that will take them a while to get back to the US.

Folks don't seem to realize that the carrot & stick approach doesn't mean much unless you use BOTH the carrot & the stick.

I don't think that problem extends to the rest of the country even though we have illegal workers.

It will for sure if this trend keeps up, spurred by amnesties.

And his past membership in the group hurt him a lot more than it helped in the gubernatorial election. What do you make of that?

What does the push to grant illegals drivers licenses, which will then enable them to vote illegally tell you? It hurt him this time. In the future it will help him and others like him.

Making the now optional employee verification system mandatory and eliminating all non-emergency benefits to Illegals would send many home on their own

I'm certainly in favor of making illegals' lives more difficult- if you enforce current laws and make it tough for them to get a job, collect benefits, receive health care, go to school etc., you'll increase the natural attrition rate of illegals going back to their home countries.

But a round-up like we had in WWII of Japanese-Americans? I can't see Americans having the stomach for that, and rightfully so.

No it won't. I've lived in a city with a little "Mexico" where every plant was full of them and in one raid over 700 were taken. The problem is not the illegals. The problem is California. There is a transference of blame going on.

My son is taking Spanish. I took Spanish. My father was Latino. I was brought up with a knowledge of my Latino heritage. So what? Illegal is illegal. I do not want my country's culture to become third-world like. So shoot me. I like it English speaking.

Tom Ridge stated "The bottom line is, as a country we have to come to grips with the presence of 8 to 12 million illegals, afford them some kind of legal status some way, but also as a country decide what our immigration policy is and then enforce it." in Miami. Last I checked, he was part of the administration. Also, the President "is firmly against blanket amnesty", he did not say they were against amnesty. They could do an amnesty that could allow illegals that have been here more than say 10 years without incident to become legal and all others would be required to leave or what ever.

Your police don't have badges or something?

Our police can apprehend illegal aliens cought commiting a crime, but they have no authority to detain them for being illegal aliens and why should they be burdened dealing with more crime? Need we import it?<.P>

I'm afraid it goes much deeper than refusing to go to Wal Mart for a day here folks . .

Q: Why does the United States Government permit wholesale illegal Mexican immigration?

A: For the workers.

Q: Why does the United States Government need foreign workers (not just Mexicans)?

A: It does not have enough labor force to meet the service sector and other blue collar work sector demands and growth within it's economy.

Q: Why does the United States Government not have enough workers to meet economic demand?

A: Over TWENTY MILLION AMERICAN WORKERS HAVE BEEN ABORTED OVER THE PAST TWENTY YEARS.

Q: If over twenty million American workers have been aborted over the past twenty years, who is going to pay for (read: generate taxes) the Social Security of the baby-boomer generation (now reaching critical mass)?

A: Mexican workers.

Final Question: If they had survived, who would they have to thank for it and WHO WOULD THE TWENTY MILLION ABORTED AMERICANS HAVE VOTED MOST FOR?

Any questions?

1) What is wrong with Bush's plan for amnesty?

He made an oath before God and country to uphold and protect the constitution. Securing and protecting our borders is one of his assigned executive duties. Granting amnesty undermines the very law that is designed to "secure and protect" the border.

2) What is the alternative solution.

There is an alternative to upholding the law? Perhaps he should clarify the need for millions of cheap laborers and the tax burdon they bring. How about the impact on wages, is it ok to drive down wages by using illegal aliens?

Uncontrolled borders is one side of the problem; the millions of illegals that are already here are another problem. Fixing the borders solves the first problem but does not address the second one.
The next amnesty will not be the first nor will it be the last. We're talking about millions of illegals (figitives) who are not leaving and will not be hunted down and deported. It will cost much more socially, culturally, monetarily.....you name it...for them to remain as fugitives. It looks like amnesty is the heavy price we will pay for generations of uncontrolled borders. We did this to ourselves.

That is a ridiculous statement. Of course we can't round up people like Nazi Germany. And yes, the problem is our policians and the companies employing illegals. Our local politicians are the worse, because they slide through entitlements without people even realizing it. Such as the matricular consular I.D. cards. The most unreliable piece of paper ever made and a tool for criminals. They implemented Special Order 40 which prevented the police from turning over illegals to the INS. And then there's the INS. What a joke!! So, the rest of us have to suffer because of this corruption. Corruption that cannot be disputed. Our laws are not being enforced. Period. I do not like it and no argument will convince me to accept it.
