ZOT!!! Low IQs found in trolls.

Posted on 12/30/2003 7:28:49 AM PST by nolongerforsale

Many books and articles have been written by psychologists estimating the IQs of people like Isaac Newton and Louis XIV. These estimates may not be very exact, but a surprising amount can be learned by studying the biography of a person and noting their intellectual development.

Isaac Newton, Leibnitz, and Goethe have all been estimated to have had very high IQs, ranging from 160 to 200. Napoleon and Hitler have been estimated around 130-140. King Frederick the Great and Czar Peter the Great around 150. The kings of Europe as a group would be one of the most intelligent groups of people who ever lived, with about a sixth of them being geniuses.

Plato, in his book THE REPUBLIC, described an ideal society ruled by philospher-kings. The American Republic has been run by men of shockingly low ability. Few of them would even be included among the most intelligent 5% of the population. In terms of integrity and character, American politicians would rate little better than the inmates of prisons.

I came across an interesting study which estimated the IQs of American presidents. It comes from ADVANCES IN PSYCHOLOGY RESEARCH, VOLUME 14, edited by Serge P. Shohov. New York, Nova Science Publishers, Inc., 2002. Chapter 6, "Intelligence and Presidential Greatness: Equation Replication Using Updated IQ Estimates" by Dean Keith Simonton. pages 143-153.

The article claims that the best presidents were usually those with the highest IQs. I would question this is in the case of Abraham Lincoln. He started the bloodiest war in American history. Of all the Western countries which had slavery, all of them except the United States and Haiti were able to abolish it peacefully. This might be a better country today if Lincoln had never been elected. Eisenhower isn't rated as very intelligent, but the country prospered under his rule.

Recently, a man sued in Connecticut for being denied a job as a police officer BECAUSE HIS IQ WAS TOO HIGH at 125.

Only in America can a man be denied a job as a policeman for being too intelligent, while stupidity is no bar to being president.

How can these estimates be so detailed as to include tenths of an IQ point? These are averages from a panel of experts based on many criteria.

The problems of the world today are much too complex to be handled by such mediocrities. It has even been suggested that presidential candidates should be given IQ tests. It wouldn't be unreasonable to require candidates to at least be in the upper 1% of the population. That would be almost 3 million people, of whom over a million would be of the proper age, health, and so on.

One President with a high IQ who achieved his potential was Bill Clinton. Clinton had one of the highest IQs and was a Rhodes scholar, and even his enemies agree he was a very good president.

In my opinion, Thomas Jefferson was the best president of all, as well as the most intelligent. But he was a slaveowner who really didn't know much about politics or history. His ideas on how to run a country were mostly wrong.

He was talented at things like architecture and horticulture, though. He was accomplished in many areas.

Al Gore and William Frist would seem to be two politicians of good character and high intelligence. But even they aren't nearly good enough. And they are the best we have.

Today, the world faces overwhelming problems which could destroy civilization and bring on unimaginable catastrophes. The world today is being run by a chaotic system of bad governments and poor systems run by mediocre people with poor characters. To make things even worse, presidents spend almost all their time raising money, attending ceremonial occasions, and wasting time. Very little time is spent learning about the problems of the world and thinking about solutions.

The "smartest man in America" was on television. His IQ is estimated at over 200. He is a part-time bouncer in a bar. His opinions on politics and history were ignorant and ridiculous.

We need a leader with a very high IQ along with other excellent qualities. No one like that is famous anywhere in the world today or holds any public office. This must change.

While there are such who cannot live a quasi-normal life, most Mensans can have children and fix their own car and run up the plastic and all the other stuff. Granted they don't often live up to expectations in school and drop out of college as often as not, but you'll find these high-potential types doing just fine most of the time. Just remember, when you go to a job interview, DON'T mention you are a Mensan.

I was not trying to be mean to all those with high IQs, but out of the 4 very high IQ in my family only one is somewhat functional and she is on her 3rd husband, maybe 4th. The closer to average IQ in my family, the more functional in society they are (and happier). These are just personal family observations.

Read "The Best and the Brightest" by liberal David Halberstom. He explains how a bunch of high IQ Hahvahd types got us into Vietnam. Incidentally, the same bunch flubbed the Bay of Pigs, appeased Kruschev in allowing the raising of the Berlin Wall, secretely agreed to leave Castro in power and somehow managed to be a pro-civil rights administration that presided over the worst race riots in U.S. history.

God save us from ever being governed by those people again.

Maybe she like weddings. We play for formal weddings, nice little chamber group, not expensive, do good work, just a thought if she hasn't yet had a big, formal wedding with all the trimmings.

The kings of Europe as a group would be one of the most intelligent groups of people who ever lived, with about a sixth of them being geniuses.

This is absurd. The European royals are spectacularly inbred and insulated and coddled, and a good many of them throughout the last 500 years were just a tad better than moronic or insane (and there were more than a few who fell below that threshhold). This becomes even more obvious if you try to track down the original legitimate heirs to the throne who were locked up, bumped off, or otherwise gotten out of the way by usurpers - a task that was sometimes made easier by the fact that the legitimate heir was seriously impaired.

On the other hand, it must be remembered that successful monarchs frequently had the advantage of (a) being brought up in the very midst of the ruling court, getting a thorough education in ruling from Day One, (b) being groomed and advised by experienced courtiers for the very purpose of someday running the country, (c) getting credit for ideas gotten from their advisors and admirers, (d) having a lot of loyal friends, family, and hangers-on to do the heavy lifting and the heavy thinking, and (e) having some control over the history writers.

No! Presidents, Senators and Congressmen should be tested on the Constitution of the United States!

(e) having some control over the history writers.

You hit the nail on the head there. Hopefully there are enough people getting the truth out there now so that future historians won't be mislead by some of the drek being published by Clinton apologists today.

"Clinton had one of the highest IQs and was a Rhodes scholar, and even his enemies agree he was a very good president. "

The ranking of everyone from Wilson to Dubya - along with this quote - shows this whole business to be the product of the fertile imagination of MonicaLewinsky wannabe.

Thank you for proving once again that trolls are fun to torment, roast, and dispose of in obscenely grotesque displays of electrical discharge.
It may just be that the tapeworm controlling your brain wasn't fed well enough to be able to tell the difference between George H.W. Bush, and George W Bush.
After all, that isn't a "Jr. Sr." naming.
But, we don't expect such intelligence from leftists anyway.

After all, Clinton claimed to be a Rhodes scholar and claimed he couldn't recall anything.
For a guy who was supposedly intelligent, he couldn't recall much, could he?

Wow, your kitten looks so much like my Pumper! We're always amazed that Pumper looks just like a Maine Coon, but since his mother is feral, we doubt Pumper is any particular breed. Our "little guy" weighs 14 pounds.

It is amazing that you have so much info on this Simonton guy, while I, studying and working at the same university (I got my PhD at Davis), have never heard of him.

Are you in the psychology field?
