There's another thread about the warning about almanacs. Yeah, it sounds kinda funny on the surface, but I don't get the derision and comments about the boy who cried wolf over there I heard about this but haven't had a chance to check it all out yet
We all may not understand the reason for these warning .. but you can count on it there is a reason

I am thrilled you can shoot down planes, detect suicide bombers, recognize who a bad guy is and blow him away before he drives a bomb ladentruck into anything.Your intelligence network is amazing. This response is typical of the "new" FR.
It used to be that FR was the one of the most "intelligent" place on the internet.
People could discuss issues logically. And even though they might disagree oftentimes, it wasn't unheard of them to drive over a hundred miles to have dinner and drinks with other FReepers. There were FR chapters in most states that did exactly this. Try doing that now.
But in the last couple of years, the IQ of this forum has dropped about 50%. The reason for that is that many of the independent-thinking and therefore intelligent posters were either banned or run-off by the groupies who think that Bush and the GOP can do no wrong. Now, I can think of many forums where the "collective IQ" is significantly higher than that of FR.
Unfortunately, some threads here resemble little more than a discussion in a high school lunch room, with the "popular" posters hurling insults at anyone that disagrees with them, and even at anyone who is "new" to the forum and doesn't lick their boots.
Enjoy your forum, which is going to eventually wind up as a few dozen groupies sitting around praising the gov't, so long as they call themselves "Republicans".
And more importantly, enjoy your totalitarian police state which is going to be the result of people in both parties granting "carte blanche" for the gov't to do whatever they please.

Landing patterns at LAX do not appear to have changed considerably. I can see the aircraft landing as normal.
Perhaps some flights are being redirected, but certainly not all.

Another FReeper said something about the new regs dealing with int'l flights and the new requirement for air marshalls.

Miss Marple,
I know Mulder (slightly). He is a very quiet, shy young man who wouldn't say boo to a goose.
Of course that's what they always say about the people who shoot up their workplace (ha).

I also would like to know what you have done for the country. Not for yourself personally, but for the nation. Why?
Would you be asking me the same question if I agreed everything Homeland Security was doing?

I think what she's saying is quit pissing and moaning about the present when you are doing nothing constructive to change it nor offering REASONABLE alternatives.
Instead, you just want to blame Ridge, Bush, the GOP bedwetters and anyone else you can. Fine, carry a gun...I could give a flying rip. Encourage others to do so too...great.
However, that doesn't mean that folks who do not carry only act that way because they want their "government" to protect them.
You're not questioning authority...you're whining about it. There is a subtle but important difference. Why don't you try and offer something constructive...like an argument...?
