[history]
Elizabeth Corrie would see her younger cousin every summer at the family vacation spot on Minnesota's Cedar Lake.
Elizabeth, a Midlothian High School alumna who teaches at a private school in Atlanta, was born nearly a decade earlier than Rachel. But they shared a similar sense of humor, a yearning for social justice and a desire to make a difference.

"I wonder what Rachel would think?" Elizabeth said. "I think she'd be proud." *rolls eyes*

Google up the writer, and he seems to be a professional liberal...founded the local chapter of the association of black journalists, did a gig at Harvard, etc. Likely hasn't had an original thought since puberty. Now thats shcoking I tell you...shocking. I wonder if he golfs with chief Moose?

Who are these "Palestinians", and where is this place called "Palestine"? It's a relatively new leftie invention. Most current dictionaries will include them under "cockroaches" and "under the kitchen cabinets", respectively.

I have to admit that I find a lot of the comments in remarkably bad taste. It reminds me of a thread I saw at the DU one time where they were making fun of Barbara Olsen. Don't you think there's a teensy difference between a woman on a hijacked plane riding to her death on September 11, on the one hand, and an America-hating terrorist lover who travels to the Gaza Strip to stop Israeli soldiers from destroying weapon-smuggling tunnels from Egypt?
Take your time. You can think about it if you want.

Won't you please fix the title here? It reminds me of DU's usual lack of compassion.
She's somebody's daughter, no matter how misguided, her death was tragic and untimely.

I wasn't comparing the individuals, but the context. Yes, I agree, she was a communist, America hating, ignorant little twit, but she was still somebody's child. So were Hitler, Saddam and Charles Manson. I have no sympathy for this pampered girl who thinks that she can fly to another country and protect murderers and their sources of weapons.
I'd love to see the look on her parents' faces when they saw the toy bulldozer. Wonder if they donated it to their local Toys for Tots program.

In fact, her family has been on the receiving end of more hostility than sympathy.Rachel Corrie has been branded a terrorist on Web sites and in mailings to her parents.
"Somebody sent them a little toy bulldozer in the mail," Elizabeth said.
HAHAHAHAHA! Say, anybody have the photos of the parents receiving some "useful idiot" award from Arafat?

Yes, there's a lot of difference. That wasn't my point. And I have to admit that some of the posts made me laugh. I guess the only point I was making is that we should behave better than the DUmmies. That's all.
"Do they deserve sympathy? Or a retroactive sentence for child abuse? "
Sympathy? Perhaps not. Compassion, yes, in my opinion, or perhaps empathy. I suppose they are now serving a retroactive life sentence for their ignorance, if not for child abuse. After all, they no longer have their child. I just don't see anything to be gained from laughing at their pain. There are plenty of others whose "pain" is far more deserving of our laughter and contempt. Think Howard Dean and John Kerry....pretty much the entire RAT party for that matter.

I have to admit that I find a lot of the comments in remarkably bad taste. It reminds me of a thread I saw at the DU one time where they were making fun of Barbara Olsen. Rachel Corrie was an enemy of this country, and gave aid and comfort to its enemies. Barbara Olsen was the exact opposite. No comparison.
I have exactly as much sympathy for Rachel Corrie as I have for John Walker Lindh and other traitors -- none.
There are some things in which we should show a little more respect than the bottom feeders over there.
There are many things in which we show more respect than the children at DU. Like justice, truth, patriotism, and American ideals.
But it's not wrong to be heartened by the the fall of an enemy, especially when it's self-inflicted.

Why? They're just as bad as she is. They programmed their girl to be a soldier for the jihad, how much empathy should we have for that?
