Steve Davis was let out of his car, which his wife was driving, on the Hwy 71 near Joplin, NO. His daughter was driving her car behind them, and was supposed to pick him up. Instead of doing so, she whizzed right on by him. The wife got home and realized that Steve was not with them. Steve has not been heard from since being dropped off the Hwy 71 early this morning in the Joplin, Missouri area.
Can any you Joplin, MO freepers help to find him? The Mother is wanting to hear from him!

Regardless- prayer bump.
Thank you oceanperch.

Sounds like it's possible that he and the missus had a dispute and maybe he assumed his daughter would pick him up? Yet when she passed him by (either unaware, or forgetful), he takes it personal, thumbs a ride, and "punishes" them by making them worry?
Pure speculation here, but preferable to the possibility that he met with foul play. At least my theory has the potential of a happy ending -- after he gets lambasted for allowing his family to think the worst.

I like your theory.
Putting myself in Steve's shoes, If I was stranded on the highway like that, I would be very, very pissed. So much so, that I would probably need to cool my heels somewhere. For a long while.
To: oceanperch
Quite a while since I drove OTR but word can travel fast between drivers on the road and in truckstops.

Agree the Highways are the truckers community.

Prayers for his safe return!

Would Steve have a cell phone? Credit cards?
If I was suddenly stranded in a town the size of Joplin and did not have a way to call, I would find a motel room for the night. Try some of the chains (Motel 6, Super 8). Joplin is a popular highway stop because I-44 turns into a toll turnpike when it enters Oklahoma.

So we have a male, 44 red hair beard on side of Hwy 71 near Joplin Mo
Clothes he had on?
Any medical needs?
Which direction on Hwy 71 was he let out?
Hieght Weight> ect.
These are things you should be prepared to have written up to give to authorities if this fellow has not been found in the 24hr. required time.
Also the time and possible mile mark if known.
Discription of vehicle that let him out.
Has the family gone back to location to search just in case he was hit by a passing motorists and is laying in wait of med. help.
Van Buren, Ark is not really that far from Joplin, if I recall. Maybe he just called a friend to come and get him and then show up tomorrow with a story to tell.

My mistake. Van Buren is near Ft. Smith. That's a long way from Joplin.

So this is your son? I don't understand this very well. It says he was dropped off by this wife, his daughter was following right behind and she didn't stop to pick him up as she was supposed to? Any reason why she didn't? I hope and pray that you have either already heard from him, or will very soon.

What kind of area is Hwy 71 near Joplin Mo? High crime, vagrants/transeints ect?
To: footstomper
If he was any distance South of Joplin,I would think it more likely at that time of day,on a Sunday, that he would try to just go ahead and thumb a ride South, over the hump.

Good idea and if he had been enjoying holiday spirits he may not have the best judgement.
Happens to the best of us.
