[history]
WASHINGTON, Dec. 26 (UPI) -- It was the eighth assassination attempt on President Pervez Musharraf since he seized power in Pakistan in October 1999 -- and the second in 11 days.
By his own reckoning, an estimated 1 percent of Pakistan's 150 million people are extremists, which is local patois for Islamist fanatics who would love to see Musharraf dead and the country in chaos.

Swiss banking contacts have told this writer in the past two weeks that tens of billions of dollars have moved into Swiss accounts from the Gulf, mostly Saudi money that no longer felt safe at home. Nor does it feel secure in the United States. Which may account, at least in part, for the spectacular fall of the dollar vis-à-vis the euro. Tens of billions in the dollar trade is in the noise level. This guy knows nothing about the currency markets.

I predict we will nuke Pakistan at some point in the future, the only question is whether a US city has to be destroyed by one of their nukes passed to AQ first. Bush needs to start making the case to the americans people for premptive use of nuclear weapons against military targets, like the pakistani nuclear weapons plants, depots, and military infrastructure.

Pakistan is going to very tough. Muslomaniacs don't care if we nuke Pakistan locations. They want this to inflame the entire Muslim world. Are the Paki nukes in a secure location? Or can they be dispersed to Islamikazis right after Mushareff gets assassinated?

i'd rather have a million Islamic nuts with little or no weapons, then 100 AQ guys with nukes.
not sure where their nukes are stored, you would think the CIA knows.

I would imagine we know where the nukes are and have teams standing by to take them out if the SHTF in Pakistan. We needn't nuke them. Conventional weapons should be adequate.
Now which will happen first: Our invasion of Saudi to secure the oil fields when the HOS falls or our invasion of Pakstan to secure the nukes?

if they are located inside mountains, I don't think conventional weapons can do anything to penetrate the facility.

The same CIA that didn't forsee the same muslim terrorists hitting the same WTC target a second time, despite statements of intent? The same CIA that made animations showing why TWA 800 wasn't terrorism?

You know, we have things that are much deadlier, cleaner, less disruptive, more enviro-friendly than nukes.
We'll use those first. Put nukes out of your head.

As I said before on another thread a few days ago, if the islamofascists get a hold of Pakistan, we're talking instant war. The nukes will need to be immediately targeted and destroyed, or the sane Pakistanis will need to tell our special forces where to go.
Just one bomb in the hand of al Qaeda is an instant disaster.

After Bush is Re-elected he needs to clean house and do everything he can to get rid of these threats while ignoring his popularity. I hope Bush is more conservative in his second term than he has been lately.
Does anyone think Cheney will run for president in 2008? Has he ever spoken out about that? While I like Cheney he doesn't seem like someone who could connect to the people the way Bush and others can. The good thing is that Colin Powell will be leaving and hopefully we will get a more conservative person running the State department.

Expect Cheney to get a MD dis-qualification and Condi for VP.
Then expect Condi and someone else for 2008.

Musharrif is nobody's fool. I expect he knows exactly who in the ISI is against him. When the time is right, these people are going to disappear and there is going to be mayhem in the border areas.
