Osama, al-Zawahiri seen in Iran: British daily

Tehran, Dec 28 (ANI): al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden and his deputy Ayman al-Zawahiri were spotted in Iran's Najamabad city two months ago, The News reported on Sunday while quoting a British daily.

The daily attributed the story to a source having links with the Revolutionary Guards.

The report said: "A man with links to Iran's intelligence services and hard-line Revolutionary Guard Corps (RGC) has told the daily that he saw the al-Qaeda leader in Iran two months ago. He saw him arrive at an RGC guesthouse close to the small town of Najmabad on 23 October."

The Al-Qaeda leader, accompanied by al-Zawahiri, was being driven by RGC officers before they arrived at the guest house, a 90 minute drive from Tehran, it was further reported.

The witness said both had subtly changed their appearances, with trimmed beards and hair cut short. Neither was wearing their traditional turbans, he said, and both were dressed in Pakistani-style clothes and carrying long shawls across their shoulders.

Meanwhile, senior Iranian security officials have strenuously denied the claims. (ANI)

I find this hard to believe. The Taliban were an enemy of Iran and we did Iran a favor in getting rid of them (as we did for Iran in Iraq as well). What would prompt the Iranians to now embrace something that they reviled in the past?

There has been no doubt in the minds of analysts who truly understand the nature of Radical Mohammedanism that UBL has had a thorough support system on the global scale which is inevitably able to shield him from US apprehension indefinitely. This obstruction of international law by terrorist nations, which is what they indubitably are which harbor terrorists, will keep our 62 nation coalition from being able to accomplish one of its primary missions of bringing UBL and his lieutenants to justice.

As the axis of evil continues to harbor Bin Laden and as our so called allies continue to support us only when they stand to gain greatly from it, with friends like France and Germany who really needs enemies ?, it shall become more and more clear that the next phase of execution in ridding the world of terror would be to Liberate the Oppressed realm between those two which we have already liberated in so gracious and distinctive a manner.

The Iranian Problem is the most imminent part of the global Islamic Problem, and can only be met with the brute force needed to rid this world of terror once and for all. Until the United States expands its search for Bin Laden into the entire theatre of operations, especially in Iran, we cannot begin to misconstrue that we are even searching in the right place. Without a thorough search of Iran, we might as well not be searching at all. That is why the search must be expanded with all due haste and our Armies must be prepared to meet the threats associated with a large scale armor conflict and subsequent counterinsurgency operation a la Iraq in Iran.

The short but effective aerial bombardment campaign of Opn. Iraqi Freedom would in my mind prove equally effective in a prospective Opn. Iranian Freedom. We have put to the best use possible Mussolini's theories of Total Air war in a protracted combination with the proven Blitzkrieg machine. The combination of air superiority and the M1 Abrams Tank will continue to spell security and dominace for the US. However given the equipment still extant in the genetic military units operational in Iran and especially their possible ballistic missile capabilities, we must be prepared to more aggressively pursue air superiority through saturation bombing and missile raids throughout the complete operation. I have suggested that this administration must not rule out the use of tactical atomic weapons in Iran. The clearest usage of Atomic weapons has always been to save lives in preemption of greater carnage. nowhere can this Trumanic Principle be greater percieved in today's world than in Iran. Most analysts have asserted that the armor campaigns in Iran would be more intrinsically difficult given terrain and urban engineering but we would, they invariably point out, also be served with a great advantage from our current positioning on their flanks, i.e. Afghanistan and Iraq, as well as the greatest military advantage there is, surprise.
That is why, given our current situation, I have estimated before and would today confirm that the spectre of a two front armor engagement, even with a limited coalition committment; I would say four or five armor brigades on either opposite border with a triangulation of fire from the Indian Ocean and Persian Gulf based Naval assetts, would probably force the Iranian Field Marshals to the treaty tables, fundamental Mohammesdan fervor notwithstanding.

There is no way to fight a war in Korea without enormous human tragedy. I am sure we would win with a minimal loss of American lives, but thousands of Koreans die...regardless.
