Edison,NJ,12/23/03 (THNT)
State Police charged 3 men with forgery, tampering with public records, and conspiracy after one of them tried to obtain a NJ ID card (issued at MV facilities)with false documents.
Two men, both Pakistani nationals, were arrested after members of the State Police document fraud squad, working undercover, saw them trying to obtain the identity card, using fraudulent documents.
The two arrested were: Mohade Aftab Khan, age 29, of Iselin, NJ, and Fiat Muhammed Ivrizwan, age 42,of Metuchen, NJ. A third man, whose identity has not been disclosed,is still being sought.
The case was handed over to the Joint Terrorism Task Force, made up of State Police detectives and FBI agents, after Khan told police he intended to travel to Pakistan, and then Iraq.
Khan, it was learned, is an illegal alien, and, after the court set his bail on the State charges at $100,000,the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement lodged a detainer to prevent his release, should he post bail.
Ivrizwan, who is in the United States legally, was held on $ 25,000 bail.He is employed as a manager at a gasoline station in Metuchen, NJ.

New Jersey has become quite stringent in the issuance of "picture" driver's licenses, and photo ID cards. It's a bit annoying to those of us who were used to renewing year after year without difficulty, but I'm delighted to see our much-maligned State Police are (A)on the ball;(B) now have the tools to work with.
This case suggests the existence of a cell-not far from where I live.

I can remember driving past the apartments near the Edison (south Edison) train station shortly after 9/11 and a large number of Asian people were crowded near South Plainfield Ave waving American flags and placards stating how much they loved America.
It's hard even for those in the community to discern who is the terrorist among them.

It's hard even for those in the community to discern who is the terrorist among them. Dunno' what you mean by "Asian."
Support for GWB, the war on terror, and the war in Iraq exceeds 80 percent among Vietnamese and Philippino immigrants.
It's in the 30's and 40's among our Middle Eastern and Muslim guests.

Well, thanks to early European explorer's misunderstanding of the world, a large swath of geography is considered "Asia". It covers all countries that border the western edge of the Pacific Ocean (except Australia) and those countries that border the Indian Ocean as well except for Africa. Thus Indians and Pakistanis are generally considered Asian as well.
Many of those that live in that apartment complex are Indian (Muslim as well as Hindu) there are Pakistanis living there as well as Muslim pacific islanders (I presume mostly Indonesian).
I was searching in my head for a word that would limit my commentary to those from India and Pakistan but couldn't come up with one quickly. Asian is quite broad, but accurate.
In any case, there were lots of patriotic people on that corner for days and I always gave them a honk and a thumbs up.

Asia is an incorrect term. The correct term for the continent would be Eurasia. Europe is really not a contiguous land mass but just the westernmost point of the Eurasian land mass with no separation between Europe and Asia.

If you're going to be very accurate, the divisions would be:
1. East Asian: Chinese and related cultures -- so China, Korea, Japan, Siberia, Taiwan.
2. The indian sub-continent: India, PAkistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Ceylon, Nepal, Burma
3. Indo-China/South East Asia: ASEAN countries.
4. Irani/Turkic lands: Turkey, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan,Iran, Azerbaijan, Kazakhistan, Kirghizia etc.
5. Arab/Islamic lands: The Middle East, from Iraq all the way up to Morocco, so most of north Africa and down the eastern coast of Africa to Somalia.
6. Australasia: Solomon Islands, Australia, New Zealand and other Pacific islands east of Japan, the Phillipines and Indonesia.
7. Russia.

The war on terror and the war in Iraq are one in the same.
Gene, another positive effect of these arrests is the implicit reminder that this state harbors the largest population of terrorists and the threat is ongoing requiring its citizens to remain vigilant and keenly aware.
To: Incorrigible
True, but what the physical feature separating Europe from Asia? They're part of the same continent -- Eurasia.

I will grant you that it is one continent, Eurasia, however, the Ural Mountains are generally considered the natural divider between the two regions. Throw in the Caucasus Mountains for good measure too.
The Urals are 1,640 miles (2,640km) in length and extend from the northern-edge of the Russian Federation down through Kazakhstan. They form a natural border between Asia and Europe. The highest point is Mt. Narodnaya at 6,214 ft. (1,894m).

Nope, Irq population = 25 million. approx. 55% are Shias who aren't anti-Ameican YET, of the remainder the Suynniis are the problem makers -- approx 25% of the population. That's 6 million odd men women and children. That's small change compared to the number of talibs turned out by Pakistan's MADrassas which are funded by SaudiA

Darn, you hate to see a couple of Pakistanis wasting their money like this. Why didn't they just buy an official matricula card from the Mexican counsulate? The "authntic" supporting documents and "gratuity" to the counsular official would have been much. much cheaper and the results would have been much more useful. In fact, most Pakis should have two or three of the Mexican matricula cards for absolute identity protection and flexibility.
