An attorney for Rush Limbaugh charged Monday that the conservative talk show host was being blackmailed by the Florida couple whose allegations triggered an ongoing investigation into his purchases of painkillers.

During a hearing over whether prosecutors should have access to Limbaugh's medical records, attorney Roy Black said Limbaugh paid "extreme amounts of money" to Wilma Cline, his former housekeeper, and her husband, first for pills and then for extortion. Black alleged that the Clines had threatened to go public with information about Limbaugh's drug use unless they received $4 million.

Limbaugh has insisted he has done nothing illegal.

I can only listen to his show about half the time but I don't recall him ever saying, much less insisting, that he has done nothing illegal. I think he's smarter than to have said that.

What he said when he left on rehab was that he was not aware of any investigation (at that time).

He did allude to the idea that he was being blackmailed when discussing the Michael Jackson case. I do remember that.

Limbaugh's got enough money - he could have saved a lot of time, money, and face if he'd just had the blackmailer killed. (kidding!)

As to the matter of his plea - I say we convince him to plead "not guilty", and blanket the jurisdiction with FIJA pamphlets! This could be a chance to get some common sense into our drug laws...

I have a funny feeling (intuition?) about Rush. Time will tell.

So are you going to try to clutter up every Limbaugh thread with childish gibberish? Is that what dittoheads are reduced to, seeking less information, less clarity and less real discussion? What's that about?

Dude, I just used search (correctly, this time) and did find a version of this same article. That makes me an ass, and you the recipient of this, my sincere apology.

What’s it all about
Rushie
Is it just for the moment we live
What’s it all about
When you sort it out
Rushie
Are we meant to take more than we give
Or are we meant to be kind
And if only fools are kind

Hey, Rush was not caught with drugs nor was he caught buying drugs. He has admitted to an addiction. So what are you gonna do 'bout it?

All rightee...so if this great and honorable man, Rush Limbaugh, did no wrong and had nothing to hide, why the hell was he paying off these two grifters???

Because he did plenty wrong and had plenty to hide?

Here's my story, sad but true
About a girl that I once knew.
She broke my heart, I became unglued,
It all started when she called me dude

Well today I leave the psycho ward
Cause my sentence did conclude:
I had killed a man with my bare hands
Because he called me dude

You assert facts w/o providing evidence for them. There have been documents published that do indeed show that federal, state and local authorities have evidence of illegal use and purchase of hard drugs by Rush Limbaugh. And that's the best case scenario.

Beyond that evidence, anybody with half a brain can see that Roy Black is swimming upstream, and you know he's been lying by the mere fact his lips have been observed to be moving.

So what are you going to do about it? Stick yer head back in the sand?

As difficult it is to do via text only, you have effectively portrayed sarcasm in your post!

I guess he's not as great and honorable as you.

Rush Limbaugh, who has never held elective office, must have his medical records made public but we still don't have access to Bill Clinton's medical records,, who has never done anything except seek public office.

Surreal.

You're welcome! I read the other Rush thread and it was getting to be a heated jumble of swirling facts and opinions, IM(Very)HO. When that happens, Sweet Sassy Molassey is about as good as I can come up with. I do sympathize/empathize with anyone living with unrelenting pain and can understand desperation making people do what they might not normally do. I don't know if this is, or isn't, the case with Rush. Like I said, Sweet Sassy Molassey! I wish him well. Happy Holidays, Bluntpoint! (Blue Moon...very cool song.)

There's not enough information out there to declare him innocent or guilty. We can only speculate. He gets the benefit of the doubt from me until more is known.

Strangely we have people on here declaring him absolutely innocent. These people are ridiculed for this...then these people doing the ridiculing do just the opposite--declare him absolutely guilty. Hypocrisy. Folks, none of us knows the extent of what has happened here, and to make declarations one way or the other is folly.
