Clark Credits Clinton for Ghadafy Breakthrough
Democratic presidential hopeful Gen. Wesley Clark said Sunday that his old boss Bill Clinton - not President Bush - deserved credit for forcing Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi to abandon his weapons of mass destruction programs, even though Gadhafi's turnaround came nearly three years after Clinton had left office.
"It's a program of squeezing Libya that's gone on for more than a decade," Clark told a Derry, New Hampshire audience, according to the Concord Monitor. "The Clinton administration was very much involved with this."
In a slap at Bush, Clark said, it "shows that you don't need to use force to get your way in world affairs," adding that Prime Minister Tony Blair deserved credit for the Ghahafi breakthrough as well.
The retired general added new details to his charge that President Bush was responsible for leaving America vulnerable to the 9/11 attacks, saying that President Clinton tried to warn Bush about Osama bin Laden but Bush wouldn't listen.
"He wasn't paying attention," Clark complained. "He didn't do his job as commander and chief."
The former NATO commander said that Bush deserves to be "fired" for not doing more to prevent 9/11.
"This is the way it works in the Navy, if you're the captain of a ship, and it runs aground, they only ask two questions: Did it run aground, and were you the captain?" he explained. "If the answer is yes to both, you're fired."
Though Clark has repeatedly pounded away at the theme that Bush is responsible for 9/11, reporters have yet to ask him about President Clinton's confession last year that he turned down a deal for bin Laden's arrest in Sudan.

Clark is now an official member of the WONDERLAND crowd.
Let's see GW is responsible for 911 - the Recession - Enron all of which had the SEEDS planted and nurtured in the previous administration BUT is NOT responsible for Lybia's recent surrender of WMD BECAUSE the seeds were planted in X42's administration. Yep the WONDERLAND crowd gets it BOTH ways and the rest of us still are wondering what is, is.

Using this same logic, what about WTC 1993? OKC boming, the Khobidar Towers bombing, the embassy bombings, the USS Cole?

"If the answer is yes to both, you're fired." When a then-Lt. Nimitz ran his old destroyer, the Decauter, ashore in the Philipines, he was court-martialed and then given another command. He didn't get fired, and went on to become one of our greatest wartime military leaders. Clark is just jealous.

If Clinton knew enough to warn Bush, he knew enough to do something about it.
So what Clark is saying is "...Clinton was too afraid to get Bin Laden, so he handed it off to a braver man...of course, now he's you're problem now that he's hiding because I lobbed a few cowardly missiles toward him."
> "...if you're the captain of a ship, and it runs aground, they only ask two questions: Did it run aground, and were you the captain?
No, if the FORMER captain mined the waters, sabotaged the keel, and hired enemies to work the engine room...it would be the FORMER captain who'd be in the brig.
I'm actually LOVING all the things these Democratic hopefuls are saying.
We have Dean saying he needs "permission" from Europe to go to war.
We have Clark saying "shows that you don't need to use force..." when it's clear to everyone else that Bush's plan is working.
They are giving the voters the rope that they will hang from!
They're making it so easy.
Of course, it was all said more succinct by FR'r "Dolphy", who said:
"...it doesn't work both ways. If Libya is Clinton's doing then so was September 11."

Maybe he caught the virus by shaking hands with Jimmy Carter.

Bull. Clark continually professes his idiocy for all to see.
It's leadership - Bush has it - Clinton did not. Khaddafy sp? did not want to end up in a spider hole. To paraphrase Samuel Johnson - there's something about a looming hanging that does wonderfully concentrate the mind.
There will be others who, to paraphrase Ousay and Qusay, finally understand that "this time the Americans mean business".
