CHRISTMAS CENSORS NEUTER A FIREHOUSE

Town officials in Glenview, Illinois, a northern Chicago suburb, have ordered all Christmas decorations removed from the inside of a firehouse. Some residents complained that they could see Christmas lights, a Christmas tree and a Santa Claus inside Glenview’s Station No. 7 when they drove down Glenview Road. Village officials declared that they want “to make sure that our public buildings remain neutral.” They pointed out that they also banned a menorah from public property.

Catholic League president William Donohue commented as follows:

“Glenview’s town officials are free to develop their own policies, but no one has to accept their lies. This has nothing to do with remaining neutral—it has everything to do with deliberately seeking to snuff out Christmas. Everyone knows that Christmas lights, Christmas trees and Santa Claus are secular symbols, but because they are obviously associated with a religious holiday, it is enough for those who hate Christianity to ban them. Moreover, to say that the policy is neutral because it also bans menorahs from public property is another lie: a menorah is a religious symbol.

“In Castro’s Cuba, Catholics celebrate Christmas with their curtains drawn. This is exactly what the cultural fascists would like to do in the U.S. It is not sufficient that they avert their eyes when they see something that reminds them of Christmas—now they literally peer in the windows of firehouses in their annual search and destroy operation. And make no mistake about it, all of this is done because they are offended by any reference to Jesus.”

This is silly. A firehouse is different from other public buildings because the firefighters actually live there for the duration of their shifts.

Have a PUBLIC REFERENDUM in your community. Have them EVERYWHERE across the USA, everywhere, everywhere possible, simultaneously with the General Election of November 2004, State and Local.

"Resolved, that the word "Christmas" shall be restored to publicly funded year-end holiday events by organizations under the umbrella of _____City (or ______Township): Support or Oppose?"

Then, a) make the politicians go on the record; and b) turn out the voters.

In probably 95% of American communities across the land, the vote will be overwhelming in SUPPORT of it. We can help revive CHRISTMAS next year, by replacing "Happy Holidays" with "Merry Christmas" as it was 10-15 years ago, (in addition, of course, this year to offering "Merry Christmas!" in love and courage, wherever we go during the Christmas season, on our jobs, in traffic, at the checkout counter, wherever and doing it in subsequent years).

There is NO REASON that this popular guerilla movement to defeat the liberals, atheists, crybabies and Scrooges CAN NOT SUCCEED in a nation where probably 90% of the People either still love Christmas or have no problem with it. Let us slap down the DICTATORSHIP of the EXTREME, HYPERSENSITIVE SMALL MINORITY over the will of the vast majority of Americans!!

Neutral? Has a war been declared? If so it is the age old "good" versus "evil" and by removing uplifting symbols, evil is being served. I used to believe that secular humanists were simply immoral, but the more I view their works I have become convinced of their deep-seated depravity.

The complainants are critical of what they call "Christian" symbols and decorations.

In reality most of the stuff they are looking at arose in the culture of the Saami, Europe's smallest and most ancient ethnic group.

I would suggest that the complainants and the town officials are more interested in persecuting the Saami than in purging public buildings of religious symbols.

Certainly there are hate crime laws enough in Illinois that can be used to Neuter these vicious bigots and persecutors of minorties.
