"If you're a terrorist, are you going to be putting your plans on a publicly accessible web site?"

Exactly--of course not. I mean, think of all the people here at FR (or at Little Green Footballs, or any other site of that sort) who post that we should "nuke Mecca" after the next big attack. I bet there are 50 some of those posts just in the past two days here, if not more. Does it mean that those people have the capability to nuke mecca, or know people who are planning to do so? No--it just means that's what they'd like to see happen. Similiarly, there are all these Jihadist websites where people want to see the US nuked. But because they attach a lot of "In Allah's name" and "Thanks to the creator, Allah" language to everything, it sounds a lot more ominous.

That's what I think these sites exploit--that we will read the posts and think that they actually have the capability to do so.

I think the day they get WMD here, they'll use them--none of this building up the perfect plan, waiting for the big Christmas rush, etc. WMDs are hard to acquire, hard to transport, hard to maintain. I don't think they'd blow their chance by getting all James-Bond-Villain on us and waiting for the perfect moment.

Go ahead and stick to your filtered down milk-toast news sources. Freeper's are quite capable of determining what is credible and what is not credible.

...to ignore alternative news sources is just plain stupid on your part.

Ok. Show me they are credible. Have they ever been proven right??

Once?

Any time?

You do your own research if you want more. Here is one example:

Debka had the most extensive reports on the deaths of Uday and Qusay whom they say were fingered by Talabani Kurdish tribesmen going in and out of the home of a distant cousin of Saddam's:

That cousin, Marwan Zeidan of the Abu Nasser tribe, is one of Mosul's richest and most colorful figures. He owns the biggest clay brick factory in town and the largest used car agency in the region. Unlike other Iraqi towns, where the different communities live in separate neighborhoods, Mosul is mixed; Sunnis, Arabs, Kurds and Turkemen live cheek by jowl on the same streets as neighbors. This population admixture was the cause of the downfall of Udai and Qusai Hussein.

Did Tom Brokejaw or Dan Blabber have anything to say about that?

Did I say anything about debka?

Strange that when I asked about this website being correct about anything, you post another source to show they were correct...

So the question again: Homelandsecurityus.com - any alerts they put out ever pan out as true? Specific details resulting in actual events? Any time????

Ever?

I heard a similar thought voiced along that line; saying Libya (& China) wants to distance themselves now from something that could be about to happen! So, you could be on the right track.

I looked through the archives and all their stories, and I can't find ONE prediction or alert that actually panned out.

The DHS isn't into fortune telling. If they put the pieces together and think something is going to happen, then there's a chance it will happen. There's also a chance it won't. Why does everybody want to keep a scorecard? Personally I'm happy if they warn us about something and nothing happens. I prefer it to the alternative.

I'm not talking about DHS. I'm talking about the website listed as the source -homelandsecurityus.com - which isn't part of the government - just some guys issuing alerts that have never been proven as true.

BTW, I was talking about alerts and predictions before the fact. You provide a story written after the fact. Of course, you were quoting debkaka, which may do good reporting on past events, but has an abysmal track record when it comes to predictions.

At which time Puxatawny Phil will come out of his hole

On the "National Lampoon Radio Hour" last Sunday, they reported that when Saddam was brought out of his hole, he saw his shadow, which means six more weeks of Jihad.
