[history]
WESLEY CLARK, the four-star general who commanded US forces in Europe during the Kosovo war, is running for president as an opponent of the war in Iraq. So what will he say, a questioner asks, when the Bush camp levels the obvious criticism: If General Clark had his way, Saddam Hussein would still be in power. "If General Clark had his way," the candidate instantly replies, "we'd have had Osama bin Laden dead or alive two years ago, and the world would have been a lot safer. And then we'd have used the United Nations to go after Saddam Hussein the right way."

clark and the rest haven't a chance. clark reminds of dukakis in that the more you see of him the less you like, and he was 17 points up on bush 41.
and now jfKerry has mortgaged his home, the leno-cycle and f-word stunts having failed to attain traction.
i think it's a waste of time to even think about the D-party field.

What an absolutely ridiculous thing to say. Clark can't rewrite history, nor can he predict how things would've gone if he'd been in charge. These DEM candidates never fail to amuse me. They stick their feet in their mouths at almost every chance they get.

Even for a commander who was first in his class at West Point, that doesn't seem like a strategy for victory. Is this true? General Clark certainly doesn't give the impression when he speaks of being very intelligent at all. He seems inarticulate and confused to me, throwing out cliches instead of measured remarks.

Awwwww gimme a Break to say that Clark had credibility to begin with is a stretch to mention he had it is the only credibility hes ever gotten the president he worked under even shat canned him and of course he gets some credit for almost starting WWIII! with the Russians
Hes got that and a fancy hat to piss and moan in thats about it !

On Aug. 27, 1994, when he was a three-star general working for the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Clark paid a visit to Mladic in Bosnia. In so doing, The Washington Post reported, he "ignored State Department warnings not to meet with Serb officials suspected of ordering deaths of civilians." Clark says he wanted to get Mladic's views for a policy paper he was writing and thought he had permission to do so. Either way, Clark did more than take notes. The two men drank wine and posed for jovial pictures that showed them merrily wearing each other's caps. Mladic plied Clark with other gifts, too -- a bottle of brandy and a pistol inscribed "From General Mladic." It was like "Ike going to Berlin while the Germans were besieging Leningrad," one disgusted commentator wrote, "and having schnapps with Hermann Goering."

Here's the Perfumed Prince in all his glory. The Clintons handpicked candidate is a total boob.

But Clark has had extensive experience in the Balkans and ought to know something about capturing international war criminals. Under the theory "it takes one to know one"?

Clark's Fading CredibilityClarks fading credibility? That faint remnant burned out years ago.
To: dadokane
A month or more ago it became public that Kerry was mortgaging his posh Beacon Hill home to fund his loser campaign. Is the one reported this week a second mortgage loan? Did 'Lovie' as he calls the missus, immediately pay off the first loan? If so, presumably he could do this to funnel money to himself ad infinitum.

Just more evidence of Clark's inconsistency. As the author notes here, Clark begrudged the multilateral approach of having to deal with France, and their suspected interests...not to mention his disagreement with the UK's Sir Michael Jackson. In his own book, Clark speaks of how having this "multilateral" agreement only caused friction with the interested parties...and how these "European attitudes" frustrated his mission. So...after having witnessed this mess first-hand, how can Clark than turn around and demand Bush get international approval and support, when even he acknowledges the incompetence of these "international" alliances?
