Quaddaffi is a direct result of the "Saddam factor" that Dean said didn't exist. I realize negotiations had been going on for some time---even years---but it is just too coincidental that ol' crazy eyes suddenly decided to move on this.

Think about it: Afghanistan, Iraq, and Libya all "pacified" or "neutralized" as terror theats in less than three years. Iran, Syria, and Yemen must know they are on the agenda. I look for Syria and Yemen to start making all the right noises. Iran may take some covert ops to topple the government. Then it will be all eyes on the North Koreans.

Given the "level of difficulty," Bush has scored a 9.8 so far. If he gets Osama, and Syria, Iran, and Yemen fall into line, this will go down as one of the most incredible international campaigns in human history.

But, to Bush's credit, the string of accomplishments on the eve of 2004 are mostly his own doing. It turns out more troops were not needed in Iraq, at least not to seize Saddam. The answer, as the administration insisted, was better intelligence. Bush's tax cuts, nearly everyone agrees, were the catalyst in rejuvenating the economy. A full-blown recovery is now a given. Bush had helpers like Federal Reserve chairman Alan Greenspan and a good bit of luck.

However, the price we're going to be paying is pretty frightening. A few really scary pieces of legislation under President Bush's watch:

The Farm Bill (huge government subsidies)
The Education Bill (a Ted Kennedy wish list for NEA)
The Drug Bill (another entitlement that wasn't even wanted by the recipients)
The Patriot Act (opens the door for tyranny in the US)
Campaign Finance Reform (Freedom of speech ruled irrelevant)
