Over 50 bags of hashish litter the deck of the dhow intercepted in the Arabian Gulf. A U.S. Navy boarding team operating from the guided missile destroyer USS Decatur (DDG 73) discovered an estimated two tons of narcotics with a street value of around eight to ten million dollars aboard a 40-foot dhow intercepted in the Arabian Gulf. The dhow's 12 crewmembers were taken into custody and transferred to USS Decatur, and Decatur sailors are in control of the dhow. DoD photo by Petty Officer 2nd Class Michael Sandberg, U.S. Navy. Was it Eric Idle who said that?

Yes.

Such was the rumor in high school, though I see nothing in that linked article to that effect. It appears that the substance has as varied a tradition in its preparation as the many forms of alcohol.

Of course. Lighten up, I was just having a little Monty Python fun. :)

Alcohol, a common item in America is abused daily, resulting in the deaths and injuries of many innocent victims. You would add the free use of drugs amongst citizens to this hazard?

It's called "equal rights for drugs." Cocaine, marijuana, heroin, LSD, PCP, and speed have been treated as second-class citizens far too long. Such prejudice and bigotry is unconscionable in the progressive 21st Century.

George Soros is the dopers' Martin Luther King.

Lighten up? I was the one referring to the brown ringer in the first place. Ha ha ha.

Back in the 70's I had an aquaintance who was a Lebanese Christian. Then, as now, drug money was used to fund various activities around the globe. He told me the hash bricks were marked. The marking identified "whose" hash it was, so to speak, so those in the know would be able to support their cause of choice. He was referring to supporting the Christians in Lebanon at the time.

I don't really see how the one can be legal and the other banned.

I agree pot should be legal, regulated roughly like alcohol is. But I am skeptical of your 'conspiracy' theory. Also, I believe hemp product imports are legal. What's to prevent a business from growing low-THC hemp abroad (much cheaper) and just importing the products? You give Weyerhauser et al too much credit.

I wasn't aware of that. Thanks for the info.

Unfortunately, all over there are people of questionable character, who feel the end justifies the means.

The dhow intercepted by the USS Decatur moves under its own power in the Arabian Gulf.

Legalize it all. Eliminate the usefulness of drug lords, smugglers, coastal interdiction and courts' time. Establish safe sites for junkies to "light up/shoot". Have the junkies buy a $2000 (or such) "insurance" policy to dispose of their carcasses after the inevitable OD.
