FEMALE SUICIDE BOMBER - A Scenario

She is 25 years old, single, and very pretty. She is Saudi by citizenship and Palestinian by birth. Her father was killed by Israeli troops when she was 12 years old, and the hatred has festered for 13 years.

Khadra came to the United States on a student visa in 1998, went to school for two quarters, and then just disappeared from view. When she left her family, she knew, and they probably knew, that they would never see each other in this life again.

A mosque about 4 miles from downtown Manhattan has been the focus of her life since coming to the U.S. She lived in a small studio apartment just a few blocks away and did work for a cleric. He trained her well but certainly did not have to convince her about the worthiness of her mission. After the fall of the Twin Towers on 9-11, she would both make history and obtain vengeance for her father.

Khadra stepped into a special pair of pants that strapped to her shoulders. At crotch level was held a 35-pound ANFO bomb. The cleric learned to build the bomb compliments of two members of the IRA who had visited him a year and a half ago. Using fertilizer, diesel fuel, an accelerant for maximum burn, and shrapenel consisting of rusty nails and ball bearings, the device would do nicely.

The trip to Times Square to watch the dropping of ball would be difficult. She had seen it played out several times on television. It would be very cold, but Khadra could not risk taking a cab, a bus, or the subway. Although she wore a heavy coat, the cold would be bone chilling. She prayed to Allah that there would be no snow because she so hated snow.

Khadra avoids eye contact but pays attention to everyone she passes. If she sees a police officer or member of the military, she does not want to get too close. Those people may realize that she is wearing an inordinate amount of perfume to hide the smell of the fertilizer and diesel fuel.

She is hungry and thirsty but does not want to stop. There is no time to sit and rest. No time for second thoughts. All that matters is the mission. All that matter is avenging those who have aided her father's killers.

This walk had been practiced many times before, in both good weather and bad. Fortunately for Khadra, it is cold but neither raining nor snowing.

At 11:45 PM, Khadra finally makes it to Times Square. She wants to get as close to the ball as possible because it will provide for the best image on television. Yes, on FOX News, CNN, and outlets throughout the world, the picture will be an image that will never be forgotten. Her family will be rewarded, and she will be rewarded for striking the infidels. She will be an inspiration to other noble and brave women who will volunteer to follow in her footsteps.

No longer is Khandra worried that she will be discovered. She makes a call to her cleric on her cell phone, takes off her gloves, and puts both hands in her pockets. Each hand will be near the button of a detonator that is powered by a 9V battery.

Khadra looks around at the people who are mostly younger. In a very short time, they expect to be hugging and kissing and ringing in the New Year. As the ball starts coming down, the crowd is chanting 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1- Happy...................................

Detonation velocity of ANFO is kinda crappy.

It is a slow-moving explosive -- ideal for taking down buildings due to it's 'earth moving' strengths -- but a highspeed explosive is what you want to accelerate nails and ball bearings. Highspeed explosives sheer steel beams nicely as well.

Good Fiction but only that. NY cops would pick her out in an instant--she is alone. She could never get close to the ball that late in the game. She would have to get there--past police--hours before. People are so close they would notice the bomb or her odd, fearful look. Is she disguised as being pregnant? That would hide the bomb but not the smell. No--there will not be another terrorist attack on the US--Not this year or the next. If they could have--they would have. If it didn't happen during the Iraq War or Ramadan it sure aint going to happen now.

I know. ANFO is Ammonium Nitrate/Fuel Oil. Ammonium Nitrate is pretty much fertilizer.
