Republican presidential nominees 2008
Posted on 12/19/2003 2:58:48 AM PST by Reader of news
I think President Bush will be re-elected next year surely. Nevertheless, there is not any sure candidate for Republican presidential nomination in 2008. I think John McCain, Jeb Bush, Rick Perry, Condoleezza Rice, George Pataki and Bill Frist may be candidates.

Tell me about "living wages". Tell me about the "corporate fatcats." Who needs a "fair shake"? Who's "looking out for the working man?"
That's Dick Gephardt Zulu. You're an old world lefty union Democrat, nobody wants you anymore, how sad.

Sorry, I don't see a pro-abortion politician taking the top slot in '08. Party is more likely to test that breach with a VP candidate first.

The terrorists worldwide would fear Rudy. They would LOVE Hitlery. Simple as that. I go with whom the terrorists hate and fear the most. The enemy of my enemy-kind of a thing, you know......

American's do not like dynasties. That's not correct as a blanket statement. Humans love dynasties as long as thier own lives are relatively strife free. Americans are humans (Hillizardry is the exception), and that primal hunger for stability is there, despite all the tough talk about rugged individualism and liberty - witness the Kennedys, and now people here on FR talking about Jeb next and W's nephew in a few years...
I hate dynasties, just for the record, and I am an American.

Ridge, Owens, Jeb, and Pataki will want to get involved. Rudy is making alot of money and unless he challenges Hillary and wins or becomes NYS Governor if Pataki gets a Bush appointment, he's not going to be a vialble candidate in 2008.

I know Gephard is a leftist socialist. I thought you were stating that Tancredo was the kind of guy and I wanted clarification on it.

No matter how "right" someones positions are, they have to have enough charisma to pull centrist voters, because neither the left nor the right has enough adherents to elect a president without the center.
Who has charisma?
J.C. Watts is like Jack Kemp, smart for a football player, but not really of presidential caliber.
Rudy Giulianni is probably the best natural leader in the pack, if he can get the Religious Right on Board.
Condi Rice is my choice. The only ugliness in sight is the Presidential Comission investigating 9/11 which seems to be trying to pin the blame on her as National Security Adviser. I think it is bogus, but it may poison her immage.
In 2016 I think we will have a winner in a Condi Rice / George P. Bush ticket, but there may be 8 years in the outer darkness first.

Is Rice pro-abortion? I know she is pro-gun.
I don't want a pro-abortionist either.

My guess would be another Ronnie.
Arnold or Bruce.
Together unstoppable.
As for the clintoons, should it be alive, their best chance for office will be the UN.
Of course, I could be wrong:-)

Here's my rant:
We have a contingent on FR of "Real Conservatives" who are actually politically, and emotionally adrift.
The Buchanan Brigade are old world Democrats. Period.
But, the Gays, Feminazis, Enviromaniacs and Tortists who run the Democrat Party HATE THEM. They're white, Christian, straight males who hate Republicans, hate corporations and free markets and immigrants and government.
Y'all have no foundation whatsoever. The Democrats revile you. The Pubbies don't trust or listen to you.
PLAN .... E .... mob FR and claim "TRUE" conservatism.
The Democrats hate you. You're old, white Christian guys with no humor or personality. Pubbies don't want "my way or the highway" one issue bozos either, so you're out like stout there too.
Plan F ... same as E ... stake out an arrogant, above the fray middle ground on Internet Forum Free Republic where you can bond in dismal fellowship, hate everything and deign to be above the fray.
Nah. You Paleos ARE Democrats who are HATED by the new DEMOCRATS, or else you'd still BE DEMOCRATS.
Conservatives? My ass.

I agree with most everything you say. I don't think American is ready for either a woman or a black as president, but I think Condi would make a formidable CA governor, then maybe president, giving her some more years of experience, allowing Americans to see
her rather than her race or gender, or a VP.
I disagree about Tom Ridge. He has no personality, totally lackluster; he might make Gore look more better. Maybe that's not the way we should think about electing a president, but it's important. I think he could have been defeated as governor of PA had the Dems run a stronger candidate.

Welcome to FR..... Hope you enjoy it. You live in Spain... Are you a citizen of Spain?....
2008 is a long time away in the realm of politics in the USA. Someone that is on the front page today may not even be in the paper come primary time 2008. A couple you mentioned I'd say no way at this time.... Rick Perry and John McCain. Jeb Bush, no also as it will be someone without Bush lineage. Maybe Owens, CO Gov....
Have a nice day.

Uhhh, I guess I'm a little dense.
Buchanan and his people are populists - they are social conservatives and international isolationists.
Persoanlly, I like some of Buchanan's stands and disagree with others. I think he's really a closet anti-Semite.
Wjile I don't believe the U.S. should be the world's policeman, I believe we have a responsibility to protect our own best interests. The destruction of militant Islam is in our best interests as they are out to destroy us.
I believe illegal aliens are threatening our borders and destroying our culture, which has long been and still is, primarily Anglo. People who come here should acculturate and accept American values and language and social mores. Its fine if they bring parts of their culture and integrate it into own as long as there is no conflict with our essential values.
Frankfurters, pizza, Chow mein, Christmas Trees, opera, Spanish music, banjos, etc. are all products added to the Anglo culture which have enriched America. Bilingual program and affirmative action programs have not, nor have old-world attitudes towards basic American rights like the Seocnd Amendment improved things here.

Hello HLL! There is little difference day to day ... during the 8 am -5 pm "victim shift" on FR than what is being yakked on DU.
Dow is at 10,500, EVERY mall parking lot I've seen is full ... yet most of the "latest" comments are about job losses, bad economy, Kahanists pimping how Bush is screwing Israel, etc.
That's not the world I SEE. THAT'S NOT THE WORLD!
To: ZULU
I've travelled around, and I've never been isolated because I spoke English. English is the WORLD language. Believe me.
When I see the "We'll all be speaking Spanish" crap around here, I don't laugh anymore. It's so stupid so that it shouldn't be accepted.
One can go to any storefront in Malaysia, Kenya or Moldovia and conduct vital business in English.
That being said: if any of these aggrieved Freepers were smart, they'd be learning Spanish and pursuing economic or cultural opportunities with their new neighbors.

American's do not like dynasties.Which is, of course, why Ted Kennedy cannot win an election < /sarcasm >.
Of course Americans like dynasties.
