Can Dean Sustain His Rallying Cry On The War? [Hussein's Capture No Big Deal]
The Baltimore Sun ^ | Dec 19, 2003 | Jules Witcover

WASHINGTON - With deposed dictator Saddam Hussein now in captivity, front-running Democratic presidential candidate Howard Dean is faced with intensified pressures to sustain his anti-war posture.

His declaration that Americans are "no safer" with the Iraqi dictator a prisoner has brought the other Democratic hopefuls down on him like a swarm of locusts. The comment brushes aside the possibility that Mr. Hussein in custody could loosen many Iraqi tongues heretofore locked in silence, producing useful intelligence against those continuing to fight.

...once the public euphoria over the capture of the Butcher of Baghdad levels off,

Spoken like a true Dean stormtrooper! This guy is the epitomy of the media's 5th column agenda.

Former Governor Dean ( AKA, "Howard the Coward," consult http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1043025/posts for details ) is an angry crank who attracts other angry cranks.

While this works well for mobilizing a core of rabid, headline-getting supporters in the early stages, it has little, if any, chance of attracting national support- most people are too busy with their own lives to sustain outrage over the long haul.

Why no outcry about the war in Afghanistan????? The UN rejected that war also, declaring that 9-11 was an act of terrorism and not war. Why isn't Dean outraged about that 'quagmire'?

"Devil Dogs"

In the Belleau Wood fighting in 1918, the Germans received a thorough indoctrination in the fighting ability of the Marines. Fighting through supposedly impenetrable woods and capturing supposedly untakeable terrain, the persistent attacks, delivered with unbelievable courage soon had the Germans calling Marines "teufelhunden," referring to the fierce fighting dogs of legendary origin.

Just thought I'd put this here for Demented (we're no safer) Doc Dean.

I'd forgotten the UN did not approve the war in Afghanistan either.

We simply must remind people of that when they start talking about internationalizing the war in Iraq and work better with the UN, etc.

"His declaration that Americans are "no safer" with the Iraqi dictator a prisoner has brought the other Democratic hopefuls down on him like a swarm of locusts."

This line reminds me of the Iraqi pree secretary saying there are no Americans here in Iraq. I believe it was Baghdad Bob. I wish someone had a pic of him and could tie in the quote, "Americans are "no safer"
