TalkerAuthor Bill O'Reilly lashed out against this space during his popular FOXNEWS O'REILLY FACTOR Wednesday night -- just hours after closely guarded book sales figures were splashed over the internet.
Sales figures show how, contrary to his claims, O'Reilly lags far behind rivals Al Franken and Sen. Hillary Clinton for nonfiction props!
MORE
Responding to an exclusive yearender DRUDGE dispatch, which presented NIELSEN's Top 20 BOOKSCAN list of 2003 sales, O'Reilly called the DRUDGE REPORT a "threat to democracy."
"I mean you can't believe a word Matt Drudge says," O'Reilly told the cameras. "Now you've got the Matt Drudges of the world and these other people, Michael Moore and all of these crazies, all right, no responsibility... that is a threat to democracy, I think." O'Reilly warned: "They'll just spin it and twist it and take it out of proportion every which way."
MORE
Last year, the host of Cable TVs most-watched newscast became unbuckled and turned unstable after this space first revealed how O'Reilly was plotting a new radio program to air opposite Rush Limbaugh [who had just lost his hearing] and how WOR-AM in New York would receive cash compensation from VIACOM to carry the program. [The broadcast launched several months later.]
MORE
"There is no other cure than to kill Matt Drudge," O'Reilly charged on the IMUS in the MORNING radio show.
"I just want to tell everybody that Matt Drudge is smoking crack - right now, in South Miami Beach on Washington Avenue... And the authorities should know it."

Getting the feeling that O'R wants to be best friends with her heinous. Didn't she also claim that 'certain' internet sites were dangerous to democracy?

I used to like O'Reilly but he has turned into such a pompous blowhard. My thoughts EXACTLY. His spin on what so called assault weapons ( he thinks they're bazookas and machine guns thus purpetuated the myth) are finally made me turn him off for good.

I have heard these things played on Television. The comments to IMUS are not to be taken seriously, but I also heard his comments the other night about Drudge.

Let me know if you find it. I mean, advocating the "killing" of someone...man, that's really out there in the land of the unacceptable.

I would say a threat to democracy is people who wish others death for writing about them...
Bill, you are lame and becoming more full of yourself everytime you see yourself in a Fox studio monitor...take a vacation and do some SERIOUS soul searching...for your own good.

O'Reilly is totally pompous and opinionated. About a quarter of the things he says I want to smack him.
But the other three quarters - he is a valuable asset to the conservative cause. He is a hugely popular member of the media who is a bulldog in bringing to awareness a highly ignored subject up until now - the systemic destruction of the traditional classic American way of life by the left.
(Rush calls them "termites" because they gnaw away at the foundations of everything)
As far as the "fight" is concerned, it's just publicity. Drudge is having fun making hay of it too. Whatever gets people to pay attention to you.

I just cringe when he interrupts everybody, and offers his "expert" opinions on every conceivable topic.I rarely watch anymore. The TV was tuned to FOX recently when O'R came on, and as I was otherwise occupied, tuned bother to switch it. I started to watch when I saw that Larry Pratt, from Gun Owners of American was on. O'Reilly really displayed his ignorance about "assault" weapons, and I really wanted to barf when he said he supported the 2nd amendment, but "the folks" don't need "assault weapons". He slapped Pratt down when Pratt tried to explain what an "assault" weapon really was. It was disgusting. The "no spin zone" my rear end.

Jesus and /or Santa could make me very happy this Christmas if they let me have one present Dec. 25 - a chance to bitch-slap that smirk off O'Reily's yankee mug.

O'Reilly called the DRUDGE REPORT a "threat to democracy."Months ago when O'Reilly had Podhoretz on his program, he either didn't know why he had invited him, or forgot what it is that Podhoretz does. Consquently he wrapped his syntax around his teeth and proceeded to make a classic ass out of himself.
Why he has morphed himself into a nincompoop escapes me, but, unfortunately that is exactly what he has done.
The evening he had Ann Coulter on his program was a real laugh. He didn't know what to say to her as she talks so fast, makes so many great points, is obviously much smarter than Bill and could make a fool of O'Reilly with ease. As it was he, as usual, made a fool of himself.

I suspect the important issue is whether or not Drudge spelled O'Reilly's name right ... if so, this is good publicity for both of them .... and pure garbage for the rest of us.
