Prayer Request for 9 yr old girl
self

Posted on 12/17/2003 9:07:19 AM PST by TMD

Please offer prayers for my friends 9 yr old daughter. She has been suffering the effects of Stevens Johnson syndrome since April 2002 and is having a very difficult time breathing. (See original prayer request http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/665591/posts?page=1,50)

It all started with an allergic reaction to over the counter Children's Ibuprofen. She is now blind, has a tracheotomy, a feeding tube, is on a portable ventilator and bi-pap machine and in a wheelchair. Her lungs look like an 80 year old with emphysema. She is not a candidate for a lung transplant (though her mom offered) because of her trachetomy and her fragile health. Her mom says "If she could only breathe, we could deal with all the other issues".

She is alive today because of her stubborness and the extraordinary support of her parents. They are basically running an ICU room in their home. She is the smartest kid in her class, having made up all her missed school work for the year. She learned braille in 6 months when her parents were told it would take 2 years. She does double/triple digit arithmetic in her head. The whole family has been on a roller coaster ride since this began.

She is currently having extreme difficulty breathing and her parents have started hospice care for her. She has good days and bad but the bad ones are getting more and more frequent. Please hug your kids and say a prayer for this beautiful little girl.

Consider her name lifted in prayer.

Prayerfully yours,

The father of a 4 year old cancer survivor (just finished chemo in Sept)

How awful. I have a young daughter, and can't imagine the horror of this.

My most heartfelt prayers for this poor girl and her parents.

Thanks. It's much easier to pray for a Kaitlyn than for "the little girl."

She is in my prayers. This makes us all appreciate the wonderful gift of life. God is in control--and cares for all of these dear souls. Your little girl is a lesson of love, stubborn hope, and triumph for a wide circle of people--more so than you will ever know. She's uplifted my life today.

Dear Heavenly Father

We know that you are the source of all healing, and that you have all power. You are the Omnipotent One, O Lord, and your Holy Power is without measure. By your outstretched arm you have brought salvation down to man. O Lord please hear our plea and heal this poor young child of yours. In Jesus Name, Amen

She has been the recipient of several miracles. In August they told her parents that she would probably never go home from the hospital. Several times they thought "this is it..." She started school in September.

Last weekend they thought it was all over but, miraculously, she rallied, yet again. She is desperately ill and could use a miracle to give her lungs some relief....

I will say a special prayer to Blessed Teresa of Calcutta for Kaitlin. This one needs a miracle, but "with God all things are possible"--words that are spoken twice in the Bible regarding God's miraculous gift of a child to parents who were too old to conceive.
