THE reputed head of the Iraqi insurgency surrendered to US forces at dawn yesterday, Al-Arabiya television reported last night.
The reported surrender of Izzat Ibrahim al-Douri, the highest ranking member of the former regime still at large, follows the arrest at the weekend of two leaders of the insurgency along with Saddam Hussein.
Anti-US raids continued last night in Iraq, with two US soldiers severely wounded in an ambush in Hussein's home town of Tikrit.
The injured troops, one with head wounds, were rushed on stretchers to a US Army 4th Infantry Division base for treatment.
The latest attack on US forces came hours after troops shot dead up to 15 Iraqis in three towns west and north of Baghdad when pro-Hussein protesters stormed regional government offices. One US soldier was injured in that exchange.

I am sure our guys would use the same scrutiny on this guy as we did SH. Make damn sure it is him before we announce it. Let's wait and see.

Good one!
Sean Penn, the moderator for DU, flew to Iraq to see for himself and ask the Iraqui people, wounded by those vicious war mongers, where Saddam really is.
He sends his best wishes and regards to "Mr. President" Saddam.

There are still three jacks and two kings out there, according to Centcom. If they lose one of those cards, the best poker hand they have left is a 6-high straight.
Cards Left:
K K J J J 9 6 5 4 4 3 2
Also, two other names in the 55 most wanted are still at large (they didn't rate cards).

Unfortunately I did not click on the posters name to verify longevity.

Excerpt from a new FNC article in Breaking News:
Earlier Tuesday, there were unconfirmed reports that Izzat Ibrahim al-Douri (search), No. 6 on the U.S. military's 55 Most Wanted (search) list, had turned himself in. But Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage told a morning news program that the report was unfounded.

We are not aware that has taken place," he said. He did not confirm. He did not deny. We shall see.
To: Coop
Thanks! I knew I had heard that this claim had been denied. Now I know I am not going crazy.
