THE reputed head of the Iraqi insurgency surrendered to US forces at dawn yesterday, Al-Arabiya television reported last night.
The reported surrender of Izzat Ibrahim al-Douri, the highest ranking member of the former regime still at large, follows the arrest at the weekend of two leaders of the insurgency along with Saddam Hussein.
Anti-US raids continued last night in Iraq, with two US soldiers severely wounded in an ambush in Hussein's home town of Tikrit.
The injured troops, one with head wounds, were rushed on stretchers to a US Army 4th Infantry Division base for treatment.
The latest attack on US forces came hours after troops shot dead up to 15 Iraqis in three towns west and north of Baghdad when pro-Hussein protesters stormed regional government offices. One US soldier was injured in that exchange.

Yeah, Al-Arabiya isn't the best source. But then again, neither was the Kurdish e-mail that told us we got Saddam!

Ahhhh, and the dirt bag liberals were grasping to him prove that Saddam had no power. I guess Katie the C#n+ will have to interview more NY city crusty hags about dating tips to make liberals feel better.

Learning from the Uday/Qusay incident, the US let the Arab newsmedia break the news that Saddam was captured.
I'm hoping this is happening in the same way.

It would seem best to have time to make him sing and get leads on his cronies before its announced.
Looking forward to confirmation but he had to be deeply saddened at saddams surrender.

Far from confirmed.
Quote:[Joint Chiefs Chairman] Myers cast doubt on regional news reports about the arrest of Izzat Ibrahim al-Douri, who is the highest-ranking member of Saddam's former regime still at large and is thought to be organizing anti-U.S. attacks.
"We heard the same thing. We chased that down. We are not aware that has taken place," he said.

I would think it would be all over the news, if true. I think the source may be suspect here. Waiting for further confirmation.I agree with you. Fox news reporter Brett Baer is with General Myers as we speak and he has not been including any such news in his reports. Time for everyone to take a deep breath, IMO.

Thanks.

All day on Sunday, those clowns in the media were reporting that Hussein was not the big catch everybody thought it was.
They went and raised the bar and said Al-Douri was now the crown jewell.
If this news is true, I guess they can always fall back on where is Osama mantra?

I think most liberals and goof balls, don't pay much attention to the news. All they know is Saddam has been captured, so not matter how hard the liberal scum try they are unable to get traction; the airheads only pay attention to the major events or shiny objects.

Sean Penn is on his way to Afghanistan to see if Osama will just admit he's a bad guy and then President Bush can leave him alone. Susan Sarandon wanted to go but Barbara Streisand is having everyone over for the Holidays (never mention which holiday in particular, that is not PC).

Let's all hope!
Although a few days ago, some Newbie posted a vanity that a report claimed Mark Garragos was appointed to defend Saddam. SSoo, let's hold our breath.

Also we've learned the lesson that we need DNA confirmation before releasing so we don't have to eat any crowburgers.
