I am speechless on this one, it has boggled my mind. No matter how cynical I get, the RC Church always beats me by a mile. Catholics should be filled with shame today. This is so unbelievable to me but I guess I just can't quite "get it" that the same church that protects pedophiles would surely protect murdering tyrants.

Come on, that's like blaming all Americans because Algore said something stupid again.
"but I guess I just can't quite "get it" that the same church that protects pedophiles would surely protect murdering tyrants."
1. It was never Church policy to protect anyone. Those who did were rogues in defiance of Church directives.
2. The actual number of perpetrators was lower than found in the general population.
3. Only an infinitessimal number of the perps were pedophiles. Over 90 percent were garden variety homosexuals, preying on adolescents as homosexuals do, and not pedophiles.

"Catholics should be filled with shame today." Nah, I'm no more ashamed of the One True Church than I am ashamed of America when Howard Dean and the other eight mental midgets bash President Bush and give moral aid and support to Saddam and the terrorists.
Perhaps even less - for when U.S. Senators like Kerry and Lieberman speak out they are indeed speaking in a semi-official manner. But when an individual Cardinal speak his personal opinion of Saddam Hussein it only accomplishes what he hopes it will; namely, that the ignorant masses will think he speaks for the official Church. Which he does not.

It's as if it was calculated to cause this effect....slowly imploding the faith from within. There's much more beneath the surface of this.

Catholics should be filled with shame today.I am certainly not, and I don't care for your comment that I should be.
Isn't that akin to saying Americans should be ashamed for the utterances and actions of Clinton?
You would be hard pressed to find a more patriotic parish than the one I belong to. We support our president and our troops.
Please.

This cardinal said nothing more or less than what Jesus His Self would have said. This cardinal said exactly what Jesus would expect us to feel. Think about it and you know its true.
