Come on, that's like blaming all Americans because Algore said something stupid again.

1. It was never Church policy to protect anyone. Those who did were rogues in defiance of Church directives.

2. The actual number of perpetrators was lower than found in the general population.

3. Only an infinitessimal number of the perps were pedophiles. Over 90 percent were garden variety homosexuals, preying on adolescents as homosexuals do, and not pedophiles.

I stand by what I said. The RC's need to take back their Church from those who have betrayed them and their children. You may call 90% of the perps garden variety homosexuals preying on adolescents. Does that make it any better? These are priests for crying out loud. You are trivializing the betrayal of Catholics by trying to diminsh the horror of what they did. Again, no matter how cynical I get, I still get shocked.

You are going to have to recognize that the Church was significantly captured by a militant homosexual regiment. You did not miss the reports about certain seminaries literally run by such people who made it inhospitable for those who did not share their orientation; and castigated those who turned away from sensuality when they entered into the priesthood. If those are facts, as I believe they are, the Church has not done anything to stop this. Perhaps they have and, of necessity, such steps would have to be under cover because they would not want to admit the problem in the first place. But I believe that the issue was in play when the bishops [US] debated the disposition to be taken towards pedophiles. I undrestand that the position which would have led to cleaning things up was defeated -- in a misguided pose of compassion and mercy.

With this type of decision-making by the American bishops meeting in leadership deliberation, echoed in this Vatican Cardinal's comments about Saddam, you cannot retain the defense of the Church that it is only a few individuals. Something is destroying the Church. To deny this, is to facilitate that end.
