Joy to the World They thought that we would rue it. They doubted we'd do it. But now they must admit it, that succeed we did.
First, let's just be happy. Let's feel a burst of joy.
Let's not be boring people who Consider the Implications. Let's not talk about the domestic political impact. For just a day let's feel the pleasure history just handed us.

Thankfully we have a president who adheres to the values that made America the greatest country on earth.

Adding to the pleasure is how wrong the lefties have been ... and how this is truly a day of mourning for them.

"Nobody writes like Peggy Noonan. Nobody."
You beat me to it. I can't imagine putting together such an eloquent commentary in, oh, about 15 minutes probably. She's amazing and simply the best.

"America did this. American troops did this. The American people, by supporting those troops and this effort, did it. And a particular group of soldiers led by a particular U.S. army officer did it. As Dana Priest of the Washington Post has just reported on NBC, he is a big, tall, bearlike guy who loves his job and whose attitude toward his mission was, apparently, a natural and constitutional optimism. We don't yet know his name, but he'll be famous by tomorrow morning. "

With all respect to Ms. Noonan, the excellent word-smith, I think an Okie actually captures the spirit of the moment a bit better for those "boots on the ground":
Well a man come on 6 o'clock news
Said somebody been shot
Somebody's been abused
somebody blew up a building
somebody stole a car
somebody got away
somebody didn't get too far
Yeah, they didn't get too far
Grand pappy told my pappy back in my day
Son a man had to answer for the wicked that he'd done
Take all the rope in Texas
Find a tall oak tree, round up all of them bad boys
Hang them high in the street
For all the people to see
That
Justice is the one thing you should always find
You got to saddle up your boys
You got to draw a hard line
When the gun smoke settles we'll sing a victory tune
And we'll all meet back at the local saloon
And we'll raise up our glasses against evil forces singing
whiskey for my men, beer for my horses
We got too many gangsters doing dirty deeds
too much corruption and crime in the streets
It's time the long arm of the law put a few more in the ground
Send 'em all to their maker and he'll settle 'em down
You can bet he'll set 'em down
Cause
Justice is the one thing you should always find
You got to saddle up your boys
You got to draw a hard line
When the gun smoke settles we'll sing a victory tune
And we'll all meet back at the local saloon
And we'll raise up our glasses against evil forces singing
whiskey for my men, beer for my horses
whiskey for my men, beer for my horses
He knew
Justice is the one thing you should always find
You got to saddle up your boys,
You got to draw a hard line
When the gun smoke settles we'll sing a victory tune
And we'll all meet back at the local saloon
And we'll raise up our glasses against evil forces
Singin' whiskey for my men, beer for my horses
Singing whiskey for my men, beer for my horses

But normal people don't have to be sophisticated. They can be normal. And happy. And say what normal Americans say when something great in history happens. "Thanks, God. Thanks a lot." Peg hits the nail on the head. The liberal media is not filled with normal people.

That's why everyone on TV today is furrowing his brow. They know joy is the wrong thing to be feeling. It's unsophisticated. I don't know...the guys and gals on Fox seem pretty happy ;-)

Wonderful piece! Whenever I read Peggy Noonan, I wish I had written it. I hope that we will be able, after this triumph, to address additional issues, such as Mugabe in Zimbabwe.

I may have this wrong, but I don't think we merely checked his head for lice ... it appeared to me, seeing the video, that US PICKED LICE FROM THE SCUM ON HUSSEIN'S HEAD!

It's one of the most momentous events of our time; capturing the tyrant Saddam. It stands right up there with the victory over Japan, the defeat of the Nazis, the liberating of the German concentration camps, taking back Afghanistan from the Taliban. Every American and every American soldier should walk proud.

Being a liberal means:
On this blessed day, when the capture of one of the most vicious, sadistic thugs in recorded history is shown to the world, you are extremely dismayed because this will adversely affect the prospects of your party.
I hate Bill Clinton just about as much as any tree-hugging, fetus-killing member of the DemocratUnderground hates George W. Bush, but, had Clinton lobbed a missile into Osama's house instead of into the sand, I would have been jumping for joy. And that, my friends, is the difference between a conservative and a liberal.
To: Steven W.
I'm bored.
I'm bored with pride in our President, with honesty and integrity back in the oval office. I'm bored with decency and goodness in our President. I am bored with a booming economy, a "can-do" attitude, a "truth will prevail" mentality. Last of all I'm bored with Peggy Noonan who always writes articulate, thoughtful articles filled with goodness and love and joy.
NOT.
I'm ready for five more years of it.
A tail-wagging "happy-dog"

Oh, I'd love to see Osama getting a shave and a haircut, put in an orange jumpsuit, and paraded around looking sheepish pigish.
