Paul Bremer - "The Tyrant is a Prisoner" Saddam's decades of terror are over.
Posted on 12/14/2003 4:25:32 AM PST by Happy2BMe
7:12 EST. Paul Bremmer confirmed Saddam has been captured and his days of tormenting the Iraqi people are "gone forever."
Gen. Ricardo Sanchez, US Commander in Iraq announced Saddam Hussein was captured in "Operation Red Dawn" and was cooperating with coalition forces.
4th ID, 1st Brigade, Raider Brigade, led by Col Jim Hickey led the raid with approximately 600 men.
Saddam was found at the bottom of a "spider hole" - six to eight feet deep with just enough space to lie down in.
Saddam gave up with no resistence. There was $750,000, two AK47's and a yellow taxi cab found during the raid.
Saddam appeard as an old, ragged peasant during his medical examination with a long graying beard. He cooperated with the physician giving him the physical, turning his head left and right during the course of the examination.
Saddam was shaved for further positive ID.
General Sanchez said, "Saddam's thirty five years of tormenting the Iraqi people are over"
It has yet to be determined when and to whom Saddam will be turned over to for trial.

If you didn't see the pictures, Saddam appeared to have 3-4 inches of beard, 4-5 inches of hair, and was very unkempt.

...and a yellow taxi cab found during the raid. ..Eh! - hang on I'll have to read that again!

It was great to see the ovation that greeted this news. I was glad to be here and jumped up applauding as well.
And I am stingy with my standing O's. I like this fellow Bremmer a good deal.
What a good morning this is! I'm repeating myself, but I'm so glad to be here sharing this with all the fine folks here at FR.
Our prayers have been answered, Thanks be to God!

Yes, Saddam looked like a street person off the streets of New York City.
General Sanchez:
- No ID on the two who were captured with Saddam.
- No info yet on who will get the $25 million reward.
- The site where Saddam was captured continues to be searched for documents, evidence, etc.
- It is unknown to what degree Saddam was orchestrating the resistence attacks within Iraq.
Bremmer: It remains to be seen how Saddam will be prosecuted.

Speaking of standing O's, were those Iraqi's in the audience crying? I'm not sure, but it did sound like it. What a relief for them.

Sanchez:
- DNA test is ongoing, but positive ID was gained by scars and other captured detainees.
- Saddam will contiune to be held at an undisclosed location. (Bremmer has not seen Saddam yet.)
- The US forces will NOT CEASE operations, but will continue to hunt down other terrorists until stability comes to the country.
- Saddam was cooperative and tired when captured. Saddam was resigned to his fate.
- US forces are prepared and will defeat any elements retaliating for Saddam's attack. -

Hurray! Only one thing to add; you should have captioned the story "More bad news for the Dims"
To: Happy2BMe
announced Saddam Hussein was captured in "Operation Red Dawn"Using the unit designations "Wolverine 1" and "Wolverine 2" was a stroke of genius.
The soviets and the 'rats condemned the movie in 1984! That has got to burn someone's butt over at the DNC.
