I know I'm going to catch heat for this, but I sort-of feel sorry for the guy. I know he was a ruthless murderer, but he never really stood a chance. I don't know why we went to war with Iraq; I do not believe he was a threat to us, the WMD was a sham excuse to go in. There might have been a good reason to go in, but that wasn't it. If one just tries to think with a clear head on this, what Saddam kept telling the UN was true: he didn't have WMD. What more could he say? He was guilty no matter what he did. Don't tell me about the "UN resolutions" the UN is a puppet of the US; they have no real power and they are merely a pacifier to the rest of the world for our actions. I'll be honest; I don't like Bush. He's destroying this country by letting illegals pour in, he's NOT for a smaller government, he doesn't care that all of our jobs are going overseas. He's given to the democrats just about everything they wanted. I would not be surprised that this capture was "timed" so that the heat would be off him for what he allowed the Supreme Court to do last week. No one's talking about that any more; are they? All of the loyal Bushbots are back in lock-step behind him. As I said, I know that Saddam is an evil man, but he never had a chance once our great country and Armed Forces set out to get him. Just look at his face; he is a third world tin-plate dictator who was never really a threat to us. (I did not say he wasn't a threat to HIS people). Try to look beyond devotional love for Bush and look at it logically. In my opinion. :)

I will answer you as a loyal bushbot, that I really am.
You are correct, Bush is wrong on some subjects. Immigration, wrong. So-called "Campaign Finance" way wrong. He should have vetoed it, for sure. And the Supreme Court Justices who voted for it have NO excuse, after all, they're supposed to be geniuses and Bush is supposed to be a dope. Prescription drugs, don't know, probably wrong. And sure, I'd like the Feds to give up the feed the children, buy the pills for the old people crap and just DEFEND OUR BORDERS.
Having said that, I have to say that Bush has been a great leader since 9/11. You have to remember how many, many, many times the Islamofascists have hit us over the last 30 years, from RFK to 9/11. We really never hit back. Even Gulf War I was a defense of our ally, even if it was in our own interest to do so. All that restraint and we got Sept. 11th, the brutal murder of as many Americans as possible. Innocent people who had done nothing but go to work that day. Children and babies and elderly people brutally and heartlessly murdered. They would have plunged that 4th plane into the Capitol too and completely wrecked havoc with our entire government except for the brave actions of the men on the plane.
Now you may not think Saddam had anything to do with any or all of the actions of the Islamofacists, but President Bush did. And he was not the only one. PM Blair agreed with his assessment. Now, either these guys get some good info that you and I are not privy too, or they don't, but they most likely do.
The best sign that this was a good move is the news that Arafat is, a la Tom Daschle, deeply saddened. My feeling on this is that Bush thought this was the thing to do, Saddam was a pig and a constant danger, there were 101 good reasons for getting rid of him, and now he's gone.
I could be a Buchannanite too (I'm not saying you're one, don't misunderstand), but I'm afraid it's impossible to be such in the year 2003. We do live in a global village now. We better strive hard to make the neighborhood a place we enjoy living in. Getting rid of the biggest Muslim bullies is a good place to start.
And with all that said, I'll admit it, I sort of felt sorry for Saddam today too. And relieved he showed the sense to just surrender, and that he was taken by Americans, who won't just slaughter him. I'm like Stalin, who felt that the Nazis deserved a trial before their exectuions.

Oh I know exactly what you mean. I mean, I likewise have felt a great deal of sympathy for small pox as well. I know its a horribly deadly disease, and one would never want to catch it. That being said, it is a species...albeit a virus... but it deserves a chance to live on Earth just like every other creature. Once Western Civilization took it upon themselves to erradicate the lifeform it really didn't stand a chance. It wasn't to blame for being deadly to humans. We could have just stayed out of its way. Perhaps we could have contained it where it popped up, but let it run its course in order that it survive and we don't come off as the real monsters. We had a choice. Small pox did not. We should just have left it alone. Afterall, everyone knows that Humans are ultimately responsible for spreading the virus. We did give it the means to grow and thrive... in our bodies. AIDS, Ebola, and Herpes too. The whole vaccine/cure thing is just a corporate, right wing cospiracy with the wealthy 1% and Halliburton to enrich doctors and drug companies anyway. C'mon. Where are your hearts, Man. Saddam and his brethren terrorists are no different than a virus.
Excuse me now. I need to go walk my dog before I destroy something expensive.

he never had a chance nor did he give hundreds of thousands of Iraqis a chance, at least he has his life for the time being. He was captured living the same way he forced others to live with the exception of the $750,000.00 Saddam had with him.

Clearly you are a thinking person. I can see that. I can also see that your thoughts are not in very good order.
Sadaam is only now a sympathetic character because he has been trapped, and he is now nothing more influential than a bug might be in the course of any human's personal events. Why would anyone consider Saddam relevant when it comes to the future events which will effect the course of a potentially great Nation, namely Iraq?
Are you suggesting, that we should feel sorry because we actually caught this puke, who is responsible for the death of untold thousands of innocents?
Certainly there are arguments, and lots more concerning the Bushes and their business background. That is always the case when it comes to any successful enterprising family. Successful enterprising people and families, will always contend with jealous and envious adversaries.
Matthew 26:11
For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always.
(Whole Chapter: Matthew 26 In context: Matthew 26:10-12)
Adversaries, or unsuccessful opponents, (read losers) always have issues with the success of others that they cannot adequately compete with.
I am too tired right now for a serious effort at rebuking you. Suffice it to say (on my part) that you are not likely to be met with much respect out here, when you post such ridiculous, unsubstantiated, nonsense proving that you, and yourself are ignorant.
Posting certain comments, implicates yourself, and proves, that you are likely stupid, but possibly just non thinking in a serious sense. Who the heck would you expect to ever take you seriously?
No personal offense intended to you. I am just asking questions!
