I just translated the article. However, I believe you are right on that. Ramstein-yes, Spangdahlem- maybe.

This is not new, we planned to close our bases in Germany for years now. Poland is exactly where we will be based.

This should make the new appearance of Europe quite interesting. The EU constitution ta;ls have collapsed, leaving Germany (in particular) out in the cold.
Having lived in Germany as a kid, I'm a little torn by this, but I also recognize that the Germany of today is NOT the same one I lived in as a kid.
Auf wiedersehn, dumkopfs.

Just like we did in Viet Nam? We sure kicked those rice eating, pj wearing shoeless uneducated commies around there now didn't we?
In fact, we did just that.Too bad the Amuricun peepul were blinded by media and Camelot to realize WE were right.

well, the last chapter of the costitution debacle hasn't been written yet. France and thewir bosom buddy Germany are trying to become one nation who will be in control of Europe. Throw in the children of a lesser Frog, ( Belgium)you can see a power struggle for control. I am sure Hitler's ghost is kicking itself right now as he sees a takeover of Europe and more lebensraum without firing a shot? However, Vichy didn't work before and it won't work this time. One of the worst thing a person can do is not to learn from their mistakes or not to learn from history.

If the US military leaves Germany, that will be alright for me. The old reason they were there was to prevent a Soviet attack. Since there is no longer that kind of threat, we can redeploy to a friendlier country in Europe, maybe Poland or Romania. LOL, and what if the Russians attack at some future date? And unfriendly as the Germans and French proved themselves this year, what is there to defend? Yes, let's go where we are welcome, and remove our troops from Germany, S Korea, and anywhere else that deems themselves unworthy to be a US ally. Works for me.....

Ah yes, I forgot about that. They made a deal with the devil and forgot that they were junior partner.

Yes, we did.
Every. Single. Time.
It was your beloved, America-is-wrong, Leftists who efficiently played upon the inherent doubt of any nation waging war through the use of media to omit the mention of military victories we had while repeatedly pinging on the negatives (as if something as terrible as War is supposed to be nothing but rosy-red positive news...) that made us lose "our Will" (repeating the concept here again in case u missed it the first time) to fight.

[I would hope they would decide to close everything we have in Germany.]

In fact, we did just that.Too bad the Amuricun peepul were blinded by media and Camelot to realize WE were right.Viet Nam started with a lie and ended with a lie. 58,000 dead Americans and pictures of our national pride literally running out or the country on step ahead of the NVA while sailors pushed copters off carrier decks to make room for the next load of the vanquished. I don't think that we can ever afford to be that "right" again. Just like Iraq will turn out.

You can spin Nam anyway you want and blame anyone you want but the simple fact is that we got our butts royally kicked big time. We had a corrupted and runaway government then and we have the same thing now. The result will be the same.

W-a-a-a-a-y overdue. And good riddance. Until they get that German wild hair up their butt and start seeing the Fourth Reich as a desireable next step. If they go beyond occupying France and Belgium, I say nuke the bastards (France and Belgium deserve it).

Do you get the idea arete is one of the my way or the highway types who still think Pat Buchannan is intellectually honest or even relevant? Or , perhaps, A Paul Craig I love Jihad Roberts types that figures splendid isolation is the only way to die.
Either way,I see someone who doth wring his hands too much.

Allies are getting pretty scarce unless we can buy their support. Those kinds of "allies" we don't need. Leave them to their own devices and see what shakes out.
I am still trying to undestand the "rebuild the enemy after destroying them concept". If they must rebuild themselves, they won't have time to wage guerilla war, and we won't be there to provide targets. If they mess with us again, bomb them some more. It's not rocket science.
