Carter: Hillary Needs to Separate from Bill

There's no doubt Hillary Clinton wants to be president one day, former President Jimmy Carter said Friday

But she should take a few years first to "separate" herself from her husband, Carter urged.

"I don't have any doubt that she has thoughts about the White House in her mind for the future," Carter told CNN. "I haven't talked to her about it, but I think that's common knowledge.

Carter said that Mrs. Clinton has done a "good job" as Senator. But he advised her "to separate herself from her husband" before she runs for president in 2008.

The 39th president said the former first lady needs to "let the general public know that she can stand on her own feet [before she seeks the White House] and that she has her own agenda and she's a good political player on her own."

Carter didn't say what Mrs. Clinton should do with her husband should she win in White House.

GREAT PRESIDENT OR MISERABLE FAILURE

There is a movement afoot to link the words "miserable failure" to George W. Bush. I think it is kinda strange for a group of people to want to do something like this. But it is happening, and it is, rightly, drawing a lot of wrath in the blogosphere.

So, what has that wrath wrought? A movement to link the words great president with George W. Bush, and the words miserable failure to President Carter. It's called "Google Bombing."

Now, I'm not one to think of either in this regard. I certainly don't think of George W. Bush as a miserable failure, nor do I think of Jimmy Carter as a great president, yet neither would qualify, in my opinion, for the opposite labels. George Bush has been a great president in several matters, and has been a miserable failure on others. In the same vein, Jimmy Carter was a great president in certain ways, and a miserable failure in others.

So, what I'm saying is that I think efforts to Google Bomb either term - miserable failure or great president is a little jeuvenile. The effort to do so will probably be a miserable failure in and of itself. In any case, a great president probably wouldn't care how he showed up in a Google Search.

In order for Carter to be right (he's never been right before but hell could freeze over) that would have to mean that there are a large number of Americans who like Hillary but don't like Bill Clinton.

I think the number of people in that group are much smaller than the number in the koolaid group that love them both, and larger (and still growing) is the group that thinks they are both wicked, power-hungry, Anti-American louses. Hillary will never be elected President (although she could possibly make it as VP then kill the sorry bugger on Groundhog Day in a freak large rodent accident).

Carter: Creamy Peanut Butter Far Superior to Crunchy

Former president Jimmy Carter weighed in today on the benefits of creamy peanut butter over crunchy. "I think it's a clear choice between being able to enjoy the smooth taste of creamy instead of picking chunks out of your teeth" said the 39th president, who was also a Georgia governor and peanut farmer.

Asked whether he had discussed these issues with world leaders, Carter emphasized that earlier talks with Fidel Castro and Mikhail Gorbachev often led to the benefits of the peanut, and how "cultivating it would go a long way to solving world hunger, if only we could stop electing Republican presidents."
