This is Chris's widow...

I have followed this thread since the beginning and you are all too kind. I have a page full of notes regarding people who'd responded, whom I'd like to talk with further (either on this thread or privately), but for now I just want to say that I've lurked here, and I knew you loved him. Sadly, depression took away that knowledge from him, and it took away a lot else besides.

I thank all of you who ever laughed at his jokes, smiled at his puns, or simply appreciated him being here. Lurking will not be the same without him, and I've had to disable my Yahoo Messenger because it reminded me too much of him... and the random FR threads he'd show me to read...

My love to you all, and thankyou for your sympathy. It means more than you know.

Much love,
Fiona (KangarooJacqui)

Ah, Fiona! You got in! So glad for that. Doncha just love all these wonderful people? Chris really made an impact here, and he'd be so proud to know that.

Just take your time, and play it cool. You need to get some rest and get as "over" this as you can. Just keep following the thread. It's miraculous.
Love, J.

Oh Fiona,
I'm so, so sorry. He was wonderful.
It's just one day, then the next and the next that you have to deal with. But he'll always be there, he'll always be in your heart. It's such a deep hole right now, but everyday that goes by the light will shine in a little more until only a shadow of pain is left. All your memories will be good, it takes time.
I wish I could be right next to you to give you a hug. I wish I could make it all better. Please know that we all care.

Fiona, you will be happy again.

Please share this thread with any sisters or brothers he may have. It is good to hear nice things about someone you love that's gone.

I honestly don't know what to say. All I can say is that while I never had the pleasure of a direct exchange with Chris, I do know that I read his posts and was always curious about what he had to say. He would probably be the first to agree that FR is so big it's hard to get to know people.

However, I ALWAYS thought he was funny and smart... he still is. He will always be.

I'm not making a lot of sense... but I do feel that he is around, and that especially, he is around you and your family ...

I'm sorry. I wish I could be more articulate.

God bless you and Chris and your whole family, and thanks for what he has given Free Republic, both in body and in spirit.

From all of us who have ever felt scared. From all of us who have ever been lonely. From all of us who have ever felt lost. From all of us who have ever had just one moment, or many moments, or a lifetime of feeling like we didn't know which way to go or if to go at all. At some point, every one of us is 'all of us'.

You honestly have my thoughts, prayers and hopes. From the deepest part of my heart, I wish you peace and restful sleep and beautiful mornings to come with it someday soon.

Oh, Fiona, I didn't see that you'd posted or I would have addressed my post to you. I'm so very sorry for your loss. God bless you....hand on to Him real tight now. He'll help you through this.

If there's anything I can do, from CA, I'm here for you, OK?

I'm glad you're a Lurker no more. FR is a community, as you've learned. There's more here for you than politics. God bless you and your family. He will help you through this very sad time. When you need a lift, join us at A Day in the Life of President Bush, aka "the Dose." You'll find the finest, most caring people there.

I thought about Chris (TILH) throughout the day after reading this sad news. I'm glad he shared FR with you and hope you'll eventually be able to emerge from lurking to posting --- carry on for Chris.

Ma'am,

I'm struggling in my tears to say the right thing. I did not know your husband personally, that is, offline, but I knew of him here on this forum that we all love. All I can do is offer my support, to let you know that we here at FreeRepublic are here for you.

As a pastor, I have something that you must know. This is not your fault in any way. There will be temptations to say "Was it something I did?" or "If only I had done that differently" or "I wish I hadn't said that."

You can destroy yourself by trying to take the blame, or even a small part of it. Do not do it, as hard as it might be.

Chris was trapped in a darkened world that had gotten ahold of him, and no amount of love, mercy, compassion or kindness was able to break it. Otherwise, he'd still be here with us. It is not your fault -- you did everything you could for him.

You loved Chris, and he loved you. I applaud you for your courage demonstrated here, and I pray for God's deepest blessings to be poured out upon you and your family. May grace, peace and mercy be yours in abundance through the knowledge of the Father, and of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Lord be with you.

With great sorrow,

Scott

I'm sorry for your loss. Depression is a terrible thing. In my college chorale group, the person who sat next to me and was well-liked by everyone killed himself in his room on October 27 because of it. In response, the chorale director wrote a song dedicated to him that was inspired by an epitaph he found in an English cathedral.
"You were our pride.
We dreamed great things for you.
God intervened and so the dream came true."
These words helped me in dealing with his death. I hope they help you too.
God bless you, your husband, and your family in this time of grief.

Peace, my heart, let the time for the parting be sweet. Let it not be a death but completeness. Let love melt into memory and pain into songs. Let the flight through the sky end in the folding of the wings over the nest. Let the last touch of your hands be gentle like the flower of the night. Stand still, O Beautiful End, for a moment, and say your last words in silence. I bow to you and hold up my lamp to light you on your way....from "The Gardener" Rabindranath Tagore

Condolences
