I'm sorry to have to report that one of our own Freepers, TrappedInLiberalHell, has passed away. His profile is HERE
I met Chris this past summer and found him to be a brilliant young man, who unfortunately carried around a lot of painful psychological troubles. He wrote few posts here, but was an active and clever noter, and a very sweet young man.

Michael, anyone with an FR sign-in like that is a friend of mine. Born the daughter of a NASA tracking station technician, here! (Carnarvon, Western Australia - out of action since the 1980's I understand)
Chris shared some of my almost geeky enthusiasm for things in the sky, although we never flew together.
BG, your sentiments were noted a long time ago... thankyou for keeping this thread alive.
Take care all...

Both Australia and New Zealand are the most beautiful countries...
My everlasting regret is that I never got to show Chris New Zealand (my father's country), and that we never hiked the Milford Track. After the first 200 miles of the PCT, the Milford Track would have been a piece of cake...
Sadly, I'll have to hike it alone. I'm going to NZ this Christmastime.

Imagine an argument about colors between two people, neither of whom knows that one is completely colorblind. You always say cool things.

*listens* what's that noise...?
YUP, thought so. It's Chris laughing. How I can hear this, don't ask, but the chuckles are out there...
He and I drove across the US earlier this year, CT to CA, and passed through Arkansas as we did so. The Clinton jokes didn't stop for about two hours after we'd crossed the border...
Yes, he could be as funny in real life as he was on here. I saw it often. Just never often enough... *sigh*

In all humility, thank you very much. A way with words (and typing skill) is my only gift....Wait....
A way with words and typing skills are my two most important gifts (and humor)...
My three gifts are a way with words, typing skills, humor, and a love of history....
I have many gifts, and among these....

Okay, truth is I'm on a disability pension right now. Between myself and his sister, who is also an invalid, we're not looking at people who have the financial situation together.
But.... we couldn't.

Chris really made an impact here, and he'd be so proud to know that. He does know, now.

I thought about Chris (TILH) throughout the day after reading this sad news. I'm glad he shared FR with you and hope you'll eventually be able to emerge from lurking to posting --- carry on for Chris.

Yes we can!
Okay, those of you with more longevity/knowledge. Let's make it happen.
I am an idea person.. not always a follow through person.
Do IT.. it IS the right thing.. and let's spread the word
It is only in "giving" that we truly receive. The gospel according to DollyCali

Ma'am,
I'm struggling in my tears to say the right thing. I did not know your husband personally, that is, offline, but I knew of him here on this forum that we all love. All I can do is offer my support, to let you know that we here at FreeRepublic are here for you.
As a pastor, I have something that you must know. This is not your fault in any way. There will be temptations to say "Was it something I did?" or "If only I had done that differently" or "I wish I hadn't said that."
You can destroy yourself by trying to take the blame, or even a small part of it. Do not do it, as hard as it might be.
Chris was trapped in a darkened world that had gotten ahold of him, and no amount of love, mercy, compassion or kindness was able to break it. Otherwise, he'd still be here with us. It is not your fault -- you did everything you could for him.
You loved Chris, and he loved you. I applaud you for your courage demonstrated here, and I pray for God's deepest blessings to be poured out upon you and your family. May grace, peace and mercy be yours in abundance through the knowledge of the Father, and of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.
The Lord be with you.
With great sorrow,
Scott

There must be created a way to get assistance from here to Fiona. I do not know what form it would take.

One of these days I'm going to get myself a black Lab and just absolutely love the hell out of it.I highly recommend that. Labrador Retrievers are magnificent dogs. And they love you back.
And if you haven't already, I recommend reading James Michener's book Chesapeake. Good historical novel with interesting info about Retrievers.
