Abortions and Profits Up at Planned Parenthood

CNSNews.com) - A pro-life group says Planned Parenthood's latest annual report reveals the "hypocritical nature" of the organization.

"Planned Parenthood claims it seeks to reduce abortion, but its abortion numbers are skyrocketing," said Jim Sedlak, executive director of the American Life League's STOPP International project.

According to Sedlak, Planned Parenthood has performed over 3 million abortions in its own facilities since 1970 - and that includes 227,385 abortions performed in 2002-2003, a 6.7 percent increase over the 213,026 performed in 2001-2002, he said.

Moreover, Sedlak noted in a press release, when Planned Parenthood opened an abortion clinic in Bryan, Tex., the health department there reported a 153 percent increase in abortions. "More Planned Parenthood facilities means more abortions," Sedlak said.

In its 2002-2003 annual report, Planned Parenthood reported a profit of $36.6 million, a 300-percent increase over the $12.2 million profit reported the year earlier, STOPP International said. (In its press release, STOPP did not account for the huge year-to-year increase in Planned Parenthood's profit. It said it would release a detailed analysis in early 2004.)

But STOPP International did note that Planned Parenthood received $254.4 million from American taxpayers in 2002-2003 - an all-time high. The taxpayer contribution exceeded the $228.1 million in donations to the group, STOPP said.

The annual report, as summarized by STOPP International, noted that Planned Parenthood made 1,963 adoption referrals in 2002-2003 - 12 more than it made in the year earlier.

The American Life League's STOPP International describes itself as an organization "dedicated to fighting Planned Parenthood's anti-life agenda."

A few years back there was an attempt to pass a law requiring a 24-hour waiting period for abortion, so a woman had a night to sleep on the decision after receiving info on the risks, etc. (failed, unfortunately). But a young girl related to the newspaper her experience with planned parenthood.

She was pregnant, and her and the father (they were teens) went to PP clinic seeking PRE NATAL CARE. They were taken to separate rooms (kinda what the cops do with criminals) and downright bullied over their decision to have the baby. The "counselors" used every trick to convince them both that an abortion was the only and best choice for them. I can't remember if they relented and ended the pregnancy-I only remember from that day on I knew the evil nature of "Planned Parenthood".

I went to their rally in Austin last week. I was impressed. God is using Mr. Danze and his organization mightily.

One unintentionally humorous moment at the rally was brought about by a young protestor (probably drunk), who staggered up on the stage and shouted "Why don't ya'll keep your religion to yourself!" He was then dragged off, while his girlfriend filmed the whole thing. The wacky left is alive and well in Austin. The ones who haven;t been aborted, that is.

That may well be the only way left to combat the mass murderer since reporting PP felonies gets you fined.

I rather doubt that the presence of an abortion clinic in Bryan-College Station would lead to a 153% increase in abortions. Instead, before the PP clinic opened in BCS women may have gone to Austin or Houston to have abortions performed.
