NO! If President Bush proposes an amnesty for illegal aliens, I'm sitting out the election next November. Americans don't want one.

If Bush drops the amnesty bomb, it will call into question everything he has done. I can't trust a guy who places personal power above the future of the country.

What part of "this administration has not taken a firm policy position on that" did you not read?

I won't sit it out....if Wesley Clark or Howard Dean takes a harsher stance on immigration than Jorge Bush, a Democrat will get my vote in 2004.

I am sick and tired of the GOP pandering to a base that overwhelmingly supports the opposition party....all in the name of paying back their business campaign contributors.

We need to get mobilized, and respond in one big loud voice of NO!!! in response to this trial balloon. It needs to be shot down at once with the threat that we will stay home on election day in 2004 in protest.

That really, at the end of the day, is the ONLY THING GRAND STRATEGIST KARL ROVE and the GOP National Headquarters will understand, coming from Conservatives.

Appealing to their patriotism, common sense, and fairness (toward legal immigrants) will NOT resonate and will fall upon deaf ears.

Appealing to their vote-getting psyche, will register.

Isn't this something? The Democratic Party is in disarray and it seems it will not nominate someone who cares about jobs, supporting average US citizens, etc. So, now there is talk about supporting the invasion.

Coincidence?...not a chance.

If Bush allows amnesty for illegals, he will never get another vote from me.

I predict that if Bush is re-elected, there will be some sort of large amnesty in 2006. I'm not voting for him. I will write in someone else or just stay home. The guy is not a conservative.

I figure even if a Dem does get in there's no way he'll do an amnesty in his first term and hopefully there won't be a second. Buys us 4 more years at least.

FYI, Immigration law provided for a rolling amnesty program IF you have been in the USA for at least 10 years. (It used to be six but the Republicans forced it to 10)

In other words, illegals who can hide and create enough roots to establish a "hardship" for leaving are rewarded.

I don't believe they should be rewarded at all. Hardship or not. Anchor babies or not. (tell the minor to call the USA when they are 18)

However, if they do adopt some amensty, they should prurge the rolling amnesty out of the books. In other words if an amnesty is adopted, the 10 year hide and seek rule is purged from the books.

Those that are now in power, quake not at our rantings. Republicans are elected to move the Democrats agenda forward, and the reverse is also true. There is only a difference in personality and rhetoric between the parties, and it is patently obvious. Clinton advances Welfare Reform, and Bush gives us bigger govt. Someones agenda is being advanced, and it is the people that believe in conservatism, and historical Americanism.

I will then be forced to vote for third party because after 9/11 that act would be close to treason.

A poll on cnn about amnesty needs freeping:

It's political suicide for them to grant massive amnesty and voting rights to those who will naturally vote for democrats, nevermind the negative impact it would have on the country. >>

Same here. Plus I feel so helpless. The American people have made it abundantly clear just how we feel.

Our so-called leaders are well aware that most of us strongly oppose this.

And they just don't care!

They're going to push these things through whether we want them or not.

As if it's not bad enough we have to fight an invasion of millions of illegals flooding across our borders, we also have to be ever vigilant and constantly fighting our own leaders who are seemingly eager to sell us down the river! >>

[B A:] I just decided, while reading this thread [And whist congratulating the subject piece's author for calling the invading enemy by its name: "Criminal Alien!"] -- that unless the Bush administration turns it around and makes a stand against our domestic enemies -- the once-supreme "court" and every other feral bench included -- and begins to defend Our Nation's Sovereign Borders and to round up and expel every criminal alien invader -- I am keeping my check book in my pocket from today and for the rest of Mr Bush's term -- and will stay home on election day next year -- and encourge my family and FRiends to do the same.

This is one died-in-the-wool member of its core base the Republican Party -- which I joined, with the NRA, a couple of years BEFORE I became an American -- can strike off its supporters' lists until it and its execrable career politicians begin to represent Our Beloved FRaternal Republic's Founding Law.

And to represent me.

God save our Republic!

Messrs Bush and Ridge have pulled of the impossible and have gotten me furious.

God save Our United States. [FRom its self-appointed permanent politicians!]

God save Our Beloved FRaternal Republic.
