[history]
The White House yesterday said a new immigration review is under way that could lead to amnesty for millions of illegal aliens living and working in the United States.
Confirmation of the review came during a White House briefing, just two days after Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge said during a town hall meeting in Miami that the government had to "afford some kind of legal status" to the 8 million to 12 million illegal aliens in the country.

Wonder if Bush, Cheney and Rove feel that confident about re-election and are that willing to spend political capital on the issue of amnesty. We shall see.Wonder if they're that confident that Dean has the nomination
Some of the others, particularly Kucinich, have shown a concern for US workers. He supports those who are here, I think, but at least he opposes NAFTA and WTO and wants living wages for foreigners in their own lands be a pre-condition for trade with the US.
Hopefully the Dems that want to take down Dean will see that the border is a real issue that can get them a lot of votes, and support what 80-85% of US citizens want on this issue.

"Dear Campaign: You received this from me last time. You will get no more the next time if the Administration does not immediately cease and desist of it's plan to 'regularize' (i.e., make 'legal') millions of illegal immigrants, as expressed by Mr. Tom Ridge the other day. Thank you,"

Easy. Yank funds from the city and/or state.

Your list reflects my thinking almost exactly. The only thing I would add is make the employment verification system that is currently voluntary, mandatory.

I certainly want the "Atzlanti" "activists" expelled from the United States. Every indication that I have seen is that they have no loyalty to this country nor respect for our rights.
Do you know of any border ping lists I could get on?

Good point. I've come increasingly to the view that Republican and Democratic office holders, particularly at the federal level, are like two professional wrestlers--they look like they're taking each other's heads off in the ring, but after the crowd has left they drive off together in the same vehicle, laughing about the night's antics.

If you are looking for GWB to do the right thing on this issue, forget it. Both major political parties see this issue as a means to buy votes for themselves, and to hell with the wishes of the American citizens.

Some are actually suggesting that getting Mexico's house in order would be easier than protecting our border. Sheesh, you got laugh at this stuff......Mexico is a massive corrupt F-ed up country. It would be a *million* times easier to secure our border than to even consider trying to change that third world country that's run by corrupt criminals. Mexico will never change. It will always be a corrupt, nasty country run by criminals. 200 years from now it will be the same thing....Unfortunately, by then it will have drug down the United States to it's level.

Hello G.W. please listen up....Do you know how much extra it costs to print everything is English (Americas chosen language) and in Spanish. It must be done to satisfy the ACLU and the people who won't or refuse to speak english. I think if you want to be a citizen you should speak the language.

Ugly dirty truth of the matter is, both republicrats and demicans think whoever legalizes all the rubbish crawling into the country first will get all, or most of, those votes. It's politics, it's power for sake of power, it's who kisses the most a$$. America is a slushball headed for hell. Homeland Security is a complete joke. How to deal with 'illegal aliens'? Legalize 'em. The biggest bunch of crap, I'm just wrapped around the axle about this and need to calm down. Have some more coffee!!

Contact either hijinx, gubamyster, or justpiper via freepmail and ask to be added to one of their lists, or ask all of them. I'm sure they'd be happy to include you.

In the immigration matter, part of the problem is not just the politics. It is a "service" based system in which immigration lawyers and immigration certified service providers (non-lawyers recognized by INS aka BCIS aka USCIS) tell their clients that with enough money and effort they will be able to stay. It is a question of making them fit the right pigeon hole and filing the right forms.
There is little if any scrutiny. Also all imigrants know that if you stay long enough they can't kick you out. Some illegals know the law better than lawyers.

Since Bush receieved little opposition from within the GOP's majority base of conservatives, on legislation that ranged from increased spending on education, farm subsidies and the new Medicare PDP, may be the Bush people think this is the right time to seek passage of some limited amnesty program. Say for about five million illegals. Could be wrong, but this issue is too polarizing in the party and I think Bush will see substantial opposition in the House to any amnesty attempt.
Strange though how all of a sudden we're hearing about amnesty considering the CLEAR Act has a chance of passing which would compel BICE to enforce the law.

Secondly, I meant to say "Latinos should fix their own countries" not "country." I am perfectly aware of the fact that Mexico is a nation. If you hear people say "Latinos should fix their own countries ...", here on FR or anywhere else, then they are racists and I wouldn't p*ss on them if they were on fire. If you didn't hear it on FR then it is irrelevant to our discussion here.
Mexicans should fix their own country instead of coming here illegally. Mexico's Presidente should work on his own country instead of begging for handouts. If he wants cooperation from the U.S. then he can put something on the table that's of use to us like controlling his own citizens vis a vie our common border.
You neglected to address the points I made. Mexicans are coming here in droves, illegally, the other immigrants you mentioned came legally. Also, "how did Eastern Europeans, Russians and Viet Namese get here if our eighty year old immigration policy discriminates against them through its 'Hitlerian eugenics' design?"

RE: My post #58.
Did not realize the person/website I linked to was part of the supremacist crowd, that's what I get for not checking a googled source(even if it was something I bookmarked in my google infancy). If anyone was offended by the link, I apologize, for those that are offended by my stance on illegal aliens, well lets just say I ain't apologizing ;)

This is a trial balloon sent up by the Bush administartion to see if amnesty is feasable in the current political atmostphere HUH! LOL!
The American people have been screaming for, voting for, passing initiatives, propositions, and begging our so-called leaders to end this brutal immigration nightmare for YEARS.
And you say the Bush administration is putting up this trial balloon to see if it's feasible???
Oh Lord, this is too funny........Thanks for the belly laugh....

If you were there, you could use you knowledge of what everyone has said, done, or thought to ensure that no terrorists or criminals enter the US.
If, however, you are busy applying your abilities elsewhere I suppose the INS could check the records of the country they are from, use polygraphs, or other time-tested methods.
To: DumpsterDiver
Very interesting, thanks for posting that.
I know that illegal immigrants cost us alot of money. If things were up to me no level of government would be in the business of giving away tax dollars to anybody.

Your exactly right.
Just like Buchanan stated, "The differences between the two beltway parties are really inconsequential".
This is exactly what is happening. We have all been taken for fools.
