And your point is exactly what?

Tell you what - How about we run a poll with the real question here - two students in student government. One a convicted bike thief, who is allowed to keep his position. One who exercises his freedom of speach to draw attention to this injustice, and is now under review for doing so. Is this fair?

1.) Ask the question without racial indications.
2.) Add the racial bias factor.

Tally the results. If the race of the two students affects the responses, you have evidence of racial bias. That is the case here - racial bias FOR the person of color, and investigation of the white student who drew attention to it.

The student was in black face because the object of his lampoon happens to be black. Poor judgment on his part - I agree - given the sensitivity in our culture to any appearance of anti-black statement or inference in any way, shape, or form. However, without the special interest race groups such as the Black Caucus - would this just be a story of a guy who dressed up as another guy? With a bike chain around his neck? If he dressed up as Jimi Hendrix, would that be appropriate?

Your theory that racial hatred is not very popular in this country anymore, and especially on college campuses, is questionable. I agree that among white middle america most do not care one hoot, myself included. However - on a college campus which formally prejudices admissions and financial aid based on race, where there is actually a formally recognized group called the Black Caucus, I think the evidence is clear - there is demonstrable racial discrimination at this University, and on college campuses in general.

I do not believe in a double standard. I do not believe that minorities need a double standard in order to be successful. In fact, I believe that this double standard and culture of victimhood is holding them back. I do not judge people by the color of their skin, and believe doing so - especially in a public state funded, owned, and operated university, is wrong.

Do you believe in a double standard? If not - why are you interested in this case? Do you think the black student thief should retain his position because of his race? That is the "Tyranny of lowered expectations." I do not lower my expecations of a person based on his color. Do you?

Correction - the correct quote is "The soft bigotry of lowered expectations".

Poor judgment on his part - I agree -

And that's all he's accused of, poor judgment. Serving in USG is not a right, it's a privilege. USG can impeach anybody it likes in a kangaroo court, because it's not real government. If it were, the government could/would be facing a civil lawsuit over this matter.

You can contort yourself in various ways to try to frame the question in order to make the so-called "conservatives" in this case look like the sole victims, but you can't do it persuasively. People wearing racially offensive party costumes to draw attention to injustice??? Please, that is straight out of the liberal handbood on victimology.

I find it hard to accept these idiots as conservatives at all. Conservatives don't party in blackface and kkk sheets. They don't post pictures of same on the Web. They don't cry victim and appeal to racially divisive politics when they're caught in the wrong.

If the repercussions of their offensive behaviour are out of proportion to the offense, then stand up and say so. But don't pretend 2 wrongs make a right. And don't pretend that any of this has anything to do with conservatism.

Sure, it's obvious that some blacks exploit the racial divide in America to nurture their own racism and discriminate themselves. And yes I hate that and am eager to see it disappear from our cultural landscape. But giving the racists among blacks ammunition like these idiots did hurts whites in the culture war and gives black racists power and influence.

I'm interested because I'm from Pennsy, attended PSU, and was in USG at one time. But mostly, because I don't like people dragging racism into this forum thinking this it's is a safe place for race hatred.
