Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.

If you don't like this bill, lobby congress to write a new one. It's a simple law like all the others. The sky is not falling. That's just snow. It's winter!

Do you see anywhere in this article, 'the LOVE of Bush?'

I see in it a logical conclusion that, in spite of differences, this writer is supporting Bush because it is the wisest thing to do for those of us with Conservative values.

And I agree. It is.

"..this particular rightist is going to stand by George W. Bush just as the bumper sticker on my car promises."

I guess it hurts less if your buddy screws you.

You really shouldn't announce your "Christianity" and then make statements like that.

Everything everywhere is George W. Bush's fault.

I read that right here on FR. ;o)

That's what he did yesterday. Which of course had nothing to do with my post. My post talked about what he did in the past. That is what the coming home to roost reference was. I'll try to go slower for you next time.

LOL! You have a real problem grasping that I actually read what you say. And I'm annoying enough to go retrieve your own words to prove you wrong (yet again).

Then you better not support Bush anymore. Yesterday all the chickens came home to roost.

Yes, it's two separate sentences, but the meaning couldn't be much clearer. It probably would be a good idea if you slowed down a bit, but don't let concern for me be a factor.

Anyone who votes for anyone on moral grounds is fundamentally insane.

On the contrary, it's morality that keeps the country together. Without it, there's social chaos, and the nation falls into Socialism.
Look at the liberal policies, and the government social policies ($$$) that follow them.
Social conservatives have no government (tax payer paid) paid programs. They're moral. They don't need them.

Bush said parts of CFR were unconstitutional. He was honest. He said he'd sign it because of massive support for it,

So he admitted in advance that he was abdicating his oath of office and selling out for political support for politicions. The support certainly didn't come from the citizenry. It wasn't even on the political radar with them.

and he asked the SCOTUS to sort it out and do the right thing.

So he ducked like a coward and left the dirty work of his oath to someone else. And played Russian Roulette with my rights. Many conservatives did vote for him. Many will not make the same mistake again.

"So, to be succinct, Bush is wonderful because he spends too much of our taxes and assumes the positions Democrats would assume."

Laz, you probably should read the article again. Seems like you missed the point of it.

Not much of choice: bad (Bush) or worse (any Democrat except Zell Miller).
Bush has done okay in Iraq and I appreciate the tax cut, but, bloated budgets, amnesty for illegal aliens, support for the Assault Weapon Ban, CFR, the Wrinkled Citizen Drug Benefit, Education and Farm Bills, and so many other things stick in my craw. "Stealing issues" from Democrats makes you a Democrat...
I'll vote Bush over just about any Democrat, but, if there were a primary, I'd vote for his opponent.

The love of Bush in the face of the bills he has signed and his lack of concern over the sanctity of the Constitution is absolutely evidence of a cult of personality.

Yeh, yeh, so vote libertarian. We've heard all this before.

Bush requested the courts decide it's constitutionality because of discord, the liberal courts were wrong. Take it out on them.
If you don't like what the courts have done, support the Bush judicial canidates, or lobby congress to write a new law.

"not the least of which is Campaign FInance Reform and his big spending ways"

You might argue about what he has chosen to spend, but campaign finance reform? Not sure what your issue is with this. I didn't like it at first either, but it seems it hurts the Dems a heck of a lot more than it hurts us.

And besides, didn't the Supreme Court just uphold it as constitutional? (Not that that really means anything any more.)

As opposed to your camp's mantra, which is "Nothing anywhere is George W. Bush's fault, especially things he signs into law."

"As a Christian, I have a real problem with the time he equated Allah with Jehovah..."

I understand your point, and agree. However, there IS only one God. Bush didn't say the Muslims were worshipping in spirit and in truth.

On the contrary, it's morality that keeps the country together.

That's not on the contrary. Do not equate the "country" with the elected officals.

If you put sinners in charge of defining and protecting morality, you will end up with the predictable result.

And you must be soft if you think anyone is buying the rest of that nonsense in your post. How old are you?

I didn't like it at first either, but it seems it hurts the Dems a heck of a lot more than it hurts us.

That should not be the point. It's not about who wins, when the Constitution is abrogated. There will always be a winner and a loser when powers are seized.

I really don't care if Republicans get a slight, fleeting edge. In the long run, we -- free men and women under a Bill of Rights -- lose.

Good logic there Proto.....Because W isn't hard-core right we should risk a socialist like Dean in office?

I thought you were somewhat rational and intelligent in the past but now I change that opinion. You would rather cut your nose off to spite your face. (absolutely nuts)
