Women's pay gap widens in some fields

WASHINGTON -- American women lawyers, salespeople, accountants and print journalists make far less than their male counterparts and have a wider wage gender gap than U.S. women overall, a new survey reported Tuesday.
The survey by the National Association for Female Executives echoes findings last month by the General Accounting Office, which noted that women earn an average of 80 cents for every dollar paid to men.
But the latest survey noted that some fields have an even bigger wage gap.
"No matter how much you try to explain it away, there is somewhere between a 12 percent to 20 percent wage gap that can only be attributed to discrimination," said Betty Spence, president of the executives' group.
American women average $10,000 less in pay than men, but American women in law, advertising, accounting or public relations make an average of $20,000 less than men in comparable jobs, the survey found. Female television news directors make only $4,000 less than men.
But female print journalists make $9,000 a year less than their male cohorts.
Male executive directors of nonprofit groups earn salaries that exceed women's by 19 percent, and male psychologists out-earn women by 25 percent, the survey said.
The effects of this disparity create a massive pension gap for women, who tend to live longer than men, Spence said. Over a 40-year career of earning $10,000 less than a man, a woman could be losing out on millions of dollars for retirement, she said.

Liberals Keep Gender Gap Huge
December 10, 2003
My friends, we have been led to believe that the pay gap between men and women is the result of evil conservative backwoods barefoot and pregnant in-the-kitchen type of thinking. Well now theres a new survey that offers evidence to the opposite.
The survey, by the National Association for Female Executives, leads me to conclude that the pay difference is nothing but our good old favorite friendly liberals in their own businesses who are holding women back.
Now folks, weve talked about this on the program before. The purpose of militant, modern era feminism was to totally radicalize human nature because it had been so unkind. However, one of the reasons the pay gap exists is due to human nature. Women leave the career world and go home to be mothers. Sometimes it's not even planned, it just happens, but thats what they do, and guess what? A lot of them like it and dont want to come back.

It's amazing, how many old chestnuts get brought out of mothballs, when a Republican is in the White House: the homeless, the ozone layer, and now this.

How to explain the lifespan gap?
"I see no other way to explain the fact that women, on average, live 10% longer than men except discrimination."

Years ago, I had to get a job in a supermarket; guys had to start at the bottom, as bagboys, and work their way up to being a cashier. However, women could start as cashiers right off the bat.

"Female lap dancers earn 110% more than their male counterparts......."
This is obviously because of discrimination against males

Please do not try to bring any sense or rationality, reason, or reality to this discussion of leftist propaganda.
If this data were accurate all I would need to do would be to go hire a 100% female workforce and destroy my competition with the 25% lower labor costs.
Every place I have worked for the last 20 years has given women special consideration for advancement and given them special consideration during layoffs. Any HR folks want to chime in on your targets for female and minority technical staff and managers? Anyone else here been pressured to hire a female or minority by HR to "help their numbers"?
I have nothing against women or minorities - but I have everything against government and corporate sanctioned sexism and racism. Hire the best and pay them well - I don't care if your blue or like the same sex - I could care.
Now if only my business were minority owned ... Oh never mind, that is another thread.

During the Clinton years, everyone had a job, nobody was homeless, women and minorities were making tremendous progress, and all was right with the world.
Immediately before and after Clinton, though, everyone was unemployed, homelessness was epidemic, women and minorities were discriminated against openly, and the world was going to pot.
According to the "unbiased" media, that is.

Well no wonder women are making less, their businesses are being officially deemed by the government to be disadvantaged.
