The court also upheld restrictions on political ads in the weeks before an election. The television and radio ads often feature harsh attacks by one politician against another or by groups running commercials against candidates. This is no longer a free country.

Stay home and let them win. You'll be so happy you proved yourself right. Actually I think that is what a lot of the people around here want. They have spent thier whole life railing on an on about big bad papa gubmint that they do not know anything else.
Rather than take a small victory here and there, and work to hire more and more conservatives as time goes by, they would rather see all Leftists in office so they can rant and rave and holler and scream about how awful the government is.
The Liberals have always understood the idea of incremental politics .. just move things slowly the way you want them .. take your defeats here and there as long as the overall movement continues.
Meanwhile our side wants ALL or NOTHING. They don't , and never will, understand that things have to be done slowly or the Sheeple will not allow it to be done at all.

Candidates of the time of the founding NEVER campaigned nor publicly sought offices. They worked behind the scenes. It is true that there was plenty of personal attacks and lies that were printed BUT NOT THROUGH ADS. Newspapers of those days were openly partisian and everyone knew it no pretension of neutrality.
No one was ever removed from ignorance by a campaign ad, ignorance was generally increased by them. This is an Ignorance Reduction Act in fact.

No, I want a President who will spend $2 TRILLION on a medicare pill bill... because 20% of Seniors needs some help so we give it to ALL of them. Which will actually give them less coverage when private insurers begin making them use the benefit.
What makes you think he won't appoint a moderate for the Supreme Court should an opening arise??

I don't care for cross dressing Libertarians either, so we'll just agree to avoid each other.

Because you can bet the Dems are already doing so The Dimwits are going to bash this law, loudly and publicly, even though they were complicit in its passage. You watch.
It will be fun to see how much the press will go along with the gnashing of teeth seeing as they are now the true arbiters of the power of the First Amendment.

We no longer live in a free country, if you can't engage in political speech before an election.

And since when has congress ever cleaned up one of it's own messes? Especially this congress.

"Seriously. How has your life just changed?"
Well, the conservative organizations that I donate to can now no longer run advocacy advertising 60 days prior to an election.
If you can't see the significance of that, well, you're an idiot.

No, "our side" does not; a few that SAY they are on "our side" say that; and their numbers on FR do NOT represent the real world.

And watch your mouth, ok? You need to revisit the layout of the human face, that's not feasible.

You really, really need to read the editorials and articles regarding politicians and elections during the "good old days".Educate us. Give us a cite.

You should. As heinous as that was, it was an exercise of free speech.

Throw your money the last 60 days at a GOP candidate TIGHTWAD!
To: goodnesswins
But not through Ads which was my point. This does nothing to impede us since we are generally able to speak the truth about our candidates without the smears depended upon by the RATS.
Now we do not have to worry about responding to last minute lies ginned up by the RAT ads.

Fox News may be our MAJOR hope in the media.....or else, like someone else said, we start a newspaper that competes with the NYSLIMES....et al. We also have talk radio and a few papers
Which is why the Dem are on a political hunt to discredited them and shut them up
If you notice .. they ALL mention Fox .. but never complain about MSNBC (which can be fair sometimes)
The Dems are trying to bring the VRWC back to light again.
