I hope this report is accurate.

Sort of good news. He should have been given a medal, not a reprimand.

Good. Rewrite interrogation procedures now.

Yep, I first heard the news tonight on
The Factor, where Bill was interviewing the Col's attorney.
Finally, common sense prevails.

Reprimand - as in Article 15?
To: mikegi
The JAG that brought charges against Lt. Colonel West should be taken to the wood shed himself.

Col West's attorney was interviewed by O'Reilly tonight. The attorney said that the investigating officer would recommend that there not be a court martial but that he might be reprimanded. Likely half of his salary for two months and that he would not lose his pension. Details tomorrow likely. Excellent news.

Seems like those who were going nuts about a horrible miscarriage of justice jumped the gun a bit. Things worked the way they were supposed to.

The injustice has already been done by this honorable man being called to task for doing his job and protecting the lives of the men in his charge. The whole event no doubt served to encourage and embolden our enemies.

Would this written reprimand have a serious impact on whether he could be promoted in the future?

If this report is true, those enlisted GIs that dropped the dime on Col. West oughtta be begging their career planner to be reassigned out of that Battalion *tonight* if they have a brain in their heads.
They'll be lucky to be stationed as frost scrapers at Ice Station Zebra after West gets through with them.

I said this would be the outcome of all this BS... and I was right.
LTC West goes home with rank and retirement intact.

I don't know if this is really good news, or merely a tactical retreat from a horrible blunder by the commanding officer.
What happens when a Colonel gets a written reprimand? Doesn't that pretty much end his chances for further promotion? If so, then I still consider this to be a major injustice. The reprimand should go into the file of the general who approved this unjust process.
