I wonder why it took two questions for Arnie to say he would campaign for the President. I didn't see it. Did Arnold seem hesitant to say yes? If so, that makes me sad.

People say such about FR too, In both cases they are right and wrong. Ideas need to get threashed out fully -- that's the "cesspool" function, you get good ideas and bad ideas, all dunped out, and we're all just trying to trash them and digest them and turn them into fertilizer and water to irrigate the soil of culture and society. A cesspool is a miracle of engineering, done right. Sanitation engineering has saved more lives in history than any other form of engineering.

So you're right, they're right. We're all working together in the cesspool of ideas and doing our bit to improve the world.

And wrong. Wrong to be so negative.

And by being such a suck up, AF, that's a *negative* thing.

To be fair, why should Schwarzenegger make that commitment publicly now? He's in a position of bipartisan support and leadership in the most important, and imperiled, state in our union. He can't be perceived as at-the-hip-aligned with a polarizing (and he IS polarizing) political icon like George W. Bush if he's going to most effectively do his duty to Californians as a newly elected Governor.

He'll campaign for President Bush ... count on it ... but let's give Arnold some room to work HIS leadership magic, on his terms, in a complex and daunting milieu.

I'll guarantee you, George W. Bush does not require oaths of fidelity and support from Governor Schwarzenegger at this juncture. Bush knows how to keep perfect spacing from his allies and partners.

I think it would be damaging if Schwarzenegger endorsed Bush so early on, with 11 months left before the election. It was basically the same thing I thought about this Gore endorsement of Dean. Gore might have figured he was doing himself a self-serving favor, which he is, but he's literally severed alot of friendships with this bold move so early on in the "game". This Democratic campaign is gawd awful long, but having an endorsement this early is gawd awful stupid.

I was on a thread this morn., and every other post was a true blue saying he/she would not vote for President Bush because of the Medicare Bill. I have it figured out.! What they really want is for the dims to resume power, so they can have a whole agenda to go after.!!

Do people think? A dim will give them much more than they bargained for in the way of social issues, and leave us high and dry in the war on terror! The President campaigned on prescription drugs for seniors for heaven's sake!

Dog, some of us see it as Gore joining with Dean to outflank the Clintonian hold on the DNC. Yes, Dean and Gore are nuts, but an overthrow of the Clintons would be way cool.

I agree about Schwarzenegger not endorsing Bush yet. IMHO, the best campaigning Schwarzenegger could do for Bush right now is to make headway in turning CA's financial mess around.

Then it will pack a huge punch to have him endorse Bush next summer or fall :-)

I agree regarding Arnold. He's walking a tightrope as it is. The reporter was trying to create an issue, to marginalize Schwarzenegger's bipartisan mandate to get that chaotic House in order. Arnold nibbled, that's good enough for me.

Gore had no choice after Hillary's performance Sunday. Hillary understands that there can be no President - in 2004, 2008 or 2032 - who is proven to have been on the wrong side of the eventual outcome in Iraq. Hillary figured out the deal, that we're going to win the "peace" and successfully continue our relentless campaign against the Terror monkeys - and she beat Gore to the "Hop on Operation the Iraqi Freedom Love Train" punch. Gore's endorsement today was a feeble bet on a Nag to Win. That's all he had left. It was him and Hillary until Sunday, and Hitlery took his lunch money, called him a "beyatch" and didn't say sorry.

Hillary hitched her wagon to George W. Bush. Al Gore had no remaining option but to hitch his future to Howard Dean. Al Gore is history. Hillary is going to be tough to beat in 2008. She's evil, but she's smart. Betting on President Bush to succeed is SMART.

I am just as conservative as any of these purist's in the forum. What they cannot get through their thick skulls, is that not one of their conscience thoughts ever helped get one of their candidates elected. In fact they are counter productive in their ravings. Reagan understood this, and he was as conservative as they come. I have come to believe that half of them are entrenched moles, the other half, when it comes time to pull the lever, common sense will prevail.
